THE DAILY ''Let our inst Censures PHONII. Attend the True Event." BY J. A. SELBY. COLUMBIA, S. C., SUNDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 25, 1872. VOL. VII-NO. 290. SENDING WHISKEY TO KENTUCKY. Says the New York Evening Post: "That whiskey should bo bought in large quantity in New York, for trans? portation to Kentucky, would appear as Btrange as the shipment of cigars in bulk to Havana. Yet last week nearly all the old whiskey of Bourbon brand in in this market, was bought up by a Western house, to be taken back to the State of its manufacture. The opera? tion was one of great magnitude., and of a nature to prodace a crisis in the market, but we note it merely to show how trade sometimes plays fantastic tricks." FORMIDABLE CANNON.-Two fine spe? cimens of the famous Purrott gnn, of tho 200 pound pattern, intended to bo placed in Fort Sumter, can bo scon on the sohooner Carrie E. Woodberry, now at Southern wharves. They will amply repay a careful inspection, and to many of us they possess an interest, as they were used to shell the oity from the batteries on Morris Island, from the commencement of fire from the "Swamp Angel," in the summer of 1863, to the evacuation, in February, 1865. ! Cftavleston If sics. The remains of the late John T. Mon- I roe, ox-Mayor of New Orleaus, which \ h cv o been intorred for many months in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, have boen exhumed, and forwarded to New Orleans for re-interment. The citizens of Now Orleans, who are greatly | his debtors, will doubtless take proper ? steps for receiving them on their arrival, and recommitting them to Mother Earth , with appropriate, honors. Spooial STotioea. FOUR MIL.LIONS OP INVALIDS.-At tho lowest computation tboro aro never leas tbau 4,000,000 of invalida in tho United Statea. Of this number probably moro than throe-fifths havo neglected tho ordinary precautions ncccaBary for thu pre? servation of health, and aro Buffering tho punishment duo to their carelessness. If the multitudes who aro now afllicted with bil? iousness, indigestion, rheumatism, intermit? tent fever, irregularities of tho bowels, geno? ral debility, nervous disorders, Ac, had, at the very firat symptoms of indisposition, in? vigorated, regulated and purified their sys? t?me with HOSTETTKR'S STOMACH BITV TERS, two-thirds of thom would at thia mo? ment be performing tho activo duties of life, unannoyed by any ailment of the body or tho mind. This asBortion is mado advisedly. It is founded on experience, and ia borno out by the testimony of a countless host of wit? nesses, whose attestations cover almost everv variety of diseaao, and extend over a period of about twonty yoara. Of every 1,000 per? sona who take tho Bittora, as a preventivo of the complaints above onumerated, eoven eighths oscape them entirely; and of every 1,000 who aro actually attacked, and use the great Vegotable Tonio as a remedy, throe fourths aro radically cured. Theeo aro not hap-hazard assertions, but statistical faots. They are baaed upon tho resulta of inquiries made by more than 50,000 persona, in various parts of the country, and upon the letters of prominent citizons of every State, it might almost he Baid, of every County in tho Union. Burnett's Standard Flavoring Extracta aro established as tho strongest, purest aud tho boat mado. Til? TerrlUo Duel between Prussia and Franco ia over, but thousands of buttles be? tween Dr. Walker's Vinegar Bittere and Dys? pepsia aud Liver Complaint aro now going on in every State of tho Union. The issue ot such contesta is never for ono moment in doubt. The conflict may lust longer in some caaoB than in othoi a, but tho loading Vegeta? ble tonic and alterativo of tho nineteenth century invariably triumphs.
