When life insurance companies woro firat organized, reliability of tho data upon which pre? miums were constructed had not undergone teat of experience, lt was thought,therefore, no moro than common prudence to adopt a scale of premiums which would, in any event, meet all tho presumed and unforeseen contingencies of the business.
