A GREEDY SHOP KEEPER SOLD.-A sailor from one of tbo lake fleet vessels recently went into a shop in Milwaukee, and purohased goods to the amount of fifty cents. Throwing down a bill, bc said: "There is a two dollar bill-give mo tho change." A glauco showed the store-keeper sbat the bill was a "V," and hastily sweeping it into the drawer, he gave back the change. After Jack was gone, the man went to the drawer, and found that the bill waa a "V," to bo sure, but was a little the worst counter? feit ever Been. Indignant at the treat? ment, Jack was found by the store? keeper and threatened, but Jack was ready, and showed by a comrade that he received bot a dollar and a half in change, so he could not bave given tho man the bill. After a little talk, the matter was allowed to drop by the store? keeper, who has probably learned some? thing he did know before." PROLIFIC.-There is a young colored man named-Sprigg, now employed in the United States Appraiser's office, in Baltimore, who, in the space of four years, has become tho father of Bevon children. His wife first presented him with a pair of twins, a boy and a girl; within the next two years, ho was again made happy by a like gift, a boy and girl, and on Saturday last he was fur? ther rejoiced by tbe birth of triplets, two girls and a boy. All of tbe9e children are living and healthy, and the mother is as well as could bo expected, under the circumstances. A hack, on its way to n depot in Bos? ton, the other day, became mixed up in an almost interminable funeral proces? sion. Coming to a spot where two ways met, tho head of tho procession turned ono way, tho hack another; the carriages in tbe rear followed the latter, and thc deluded drivers noticed not their error until they were quito nigh tho depot. Then there was turning in bot haste, and lively time made until the solemn and staid portion of tho funeral procession was overtaken. It is said to bo a not uncommon prac? tico among millers io mend their broken or worn-out stones, by pouring molten lead into the crevices.
