PROFIT OCT OF THE MISFORTUNES OF OTHEBS.-The following, from tho Savannah Hepublican, telle its own story: . ' 'HINESVXJJLE, LIBERTY COUNTY, GA.*, December 10.-A snle has taken place at this county seat, that so well marks the extremo depression in the < money market, that I send you tho particulars. Colonel Qnarterinan, of this County, deceased, and his execu? tor, Jndge Featter, was compelled to close the estate. The property was advertised, os required by law, and on last court doy it was sold. A handsome residence at Wal thom-ville, with teri acres attached, out-houses and all the necessary appendages of a first-class planter's residence, were sold for sixty dollars. The purchaser was the agent of the freedmen's bu? reau. His plantation, 450 acres of mime land, brought 8150; sold to a Mr. Fraser. Sixty-six acres of other land, near Walthourville, brought three dollars; purchaser, Mr. W. D. Bacon. These were all bona fido eales. It was court day, .aud a large concourse of people were present. The most of them were large pro? perty-owners, but really had not five dollars in their pockets, and of con? sequence would not bid, ns the sales were for cash." Here is a chance for making for? tunes, especially for the agents of the freedmen's bureau. It is said that Senator Guthrie, of Kentucky, who has not been in his sent since tho first sessiou of thc thirty-ninth Congress, intends to come to Washington this sessiou, a special car, sumptuously fitted np, being prepared for his reception and intended, to run through from Cin? cinnati. The Senator is one of the wealthiest men in Kentucky, and though hopelessly paralyzed, nnd de? spite the remonstrances of his friends, is bent ou making his appear? ance in the Senatorial chamber.
