He says the view was one of the most horrid and sickening spectacles that mortal eye ever looked opon. It is said that a-mother perish' ed with her three young children in her arms, all boin sr crashed helplessly together by tn* telescoping of the cars. When last seen she gathered them all in her arms, and thus, un? conscious and wounded, they slowly- were con? sumed by the remorseless flames. The young and tender bones of the little ones were quick? ly destroyed, and but a few shrivelled piooca could be distinguished from the larger pieocs of the mother. The remains of Be v. Mr. Hal lock make the bast proa erv ed rebe of hu? manity in the sad list. The limbs are gone, but- the trunk and bead remain. The thigh bones protrude through the crisp burnt flesh, and indicate that the clothing on the cushion of the scat served as some protection from the flames. The position of the form shows that the body rested easily in the Beat during the process of combusti?n. The skull, also, is quite perfect, although the extreme heat had th oro a Rh ly dried the bone. The sharp edges around Che top where it is broken seems as though there had been a fracture. Ibis leads to the theory that when the car was broken up the tops of the Beats were hnrled violently forward, and some of these driving pieces crashed through his head, braining him and causing instant death. It is thought that be wss not burnt alive, but that he died some time before the flames reached him. The testimony of those who last saw the oar, leads to the belief that nearly all the victims were killed or stunned in the first ter* rifle crash, and that nene were actually roasted to death by a slow fire as was at first eui > posed. ^??????MMiMii^i^iMM--?---------***--------? Ie sketches the characteristics of a new ?hool of politicians who are rising ap in he Southern States, and who, he thinks, viii ere long oontrol the destinies of this leotion. We quote : "These are mostly young men, and the ivents of the day are giving them a stern and jard education tho country will yet feel. E. W. Moise and J. D. Bland ing. They both advised that the payment of taxes should be postponed, and gave it as their opinion that they could not legally be c oil eo ted before next February or Mare h. The meeting thereupon unanimously re? solved to forward petitions to Columbia for relief, and pending action opon theao peti? tions, to re fuse io pay the taxes. IT IS a fact not generally known that the inoome tax for the year 1869 will be the last one collected, unless the operation of the law should be extended. The provi? sion of the act reads.as follows : "The taxes on incomes herein imposed shall be levied on the first day of March, and be due and payable on or before the 30th day af April in each year, on til and including the year 1870, and no longer."
