THE GAS COMPANY.-The statement contain? ed in the notice of the Gas Company yesterday, to the effect that the service pipe would bs laid to base? ments without danger to consumers, should have read without chai ne to consumers, the objeot of the company being to supply tho gas to new consumers at as low a rate as possible. Cm STOCK.-A salo of $10,090 City Stock was made yesterday by Messrs. Leitch and Bruns at 69. Both parties to this transaction were aware of the faot that tho Supreme Court hod granted the writ of viandamus in the contested eleotion case. Early in the morning tho price of City Stock was 58s00, and ut the close of business it was quoted at 60. THE SOUTH CAROLINA PHOSPHATES.-At the meeting of the Board of Trade, h-Md on Wednesday night, the following resc luttons were introduced by Dr. H. Beer, and unanimously adopted: Resolved, That this board takes a deep interest in the important discovery of. phosphate beds made ia this neighborhood by the scientific gentlemen of ! Charleston. Resolved, That the native and adopted citizens of Charleston, who have earned distinction in connec? tion with these disceveries and their developments, and those now ongaged in extending the production and providing for the manufacture of these native fertilizers, are entitled to thi earnest support ot the community and the applause of this board. Resolved, That the exe silent and timely work late? ly published by Dr. N. A. Erie. Toledo, Sandusky, Cleveland, Detroit, Michilimackinac, Chiosgo and Milwaokie, by canal, railroad, river, or lake, wholly or in part, as the party may select in his entry. Also, from a port or ports on the Atlantic to any other port on the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, or the PaoiSc, or vice vc rsa, by such route sud conveyance as the party in his entry may select. Also, from tho port of New Orleans to any port of entry or delivery on the Mississippi and its tributa? ries, and by such conveyance and mut? aa the party in his entry shall select. Also, from the ports of Charleston and Savannah, to the ports of Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis. THE COLLINS-WOLFE Row.-Tho following are the facts in relation to the difficulty between officer Wolfe and Dr. M. H. Collins, a synopsis of which was published day before yesterday : In December last, Collins made an affidavit that Isaac Dixson hod committed an assault and battery on him; but, on examination, Dixson proved his in? nocence. Subsequently, Collins sued out a writ of cjeotmcnt against Dixson, to get him out of his promisee. Dixson refused to vacate, and threatened ault against Collins for not putting stamps on the receipts for ront which he had given him. Collins compromised and let Llxson remain; but tbe seats in tho suit fell on CeltifiB, who refused to pay them. An execution against Collins was thereupon placed in the hands of Constable B. D. Easton to levy. While in the discharge of this duty. Beaton was vio? lently assaulted by Colline, who wss compelled to give bonds to keep tbe peace. Easton then made tv second attempt to levy, but was vio "lontly resisted by M. Samuel, who threat? ened to tako his life. Easton applied to Magis? tral Alaokey for a warrant against Samuel, and tho latter was placed in the hands of officer . Wolfe, ' an . cs ted Samuel and was taking him to . jail, 'iv ti uo requested the officer to go home with hint and he would get bail. Wfcen they reached the house. Collins came in end inquired what wss the matter. Samuel told him if he did not go his ball he would have to go to jail. Collins offered to go his aurety, and was refuged, He immediately jumped to tho front door, locked it, and put the kay In bia pocket; and thea said to Wolfe, "Nos? there ls two to ons; I'll eeo what's what." Wolfe demanded the opening of the door, aud said ir lt was not opened he would break lt down. Samuel ad? vised Collins to open lt, and he did so. Wolfe sold Samuel must go with him. Wol'e went to Magistrats Mackey for further instruction. Magistrate Mackey went with Wolfe to the Lower Guardhouse and ob mined other policemen to arrest Collins and Samuel. THE CITY RAILWAY,-We examined yesterday the ordinance chartering the city railway, and find that it is only required to keep tho streets over which it passes in repair, un i or certain specified conditions that do not necessitate compliance in the present excellent order of the track and road generally. Simmons were lodged yesterday for stealing a gold watch from Boee, a colored womasi at the Calder Bouse. Adeline Johnson, colored, was reported for severe, ly whipping Paul Webb, a colored boy. He came to Charleston after the sunrender in the capacity of assistant quartermaster, and when mustered out was appointed disbursing officer of the Freedmen's Bureau. THE SAVANNA!! The difficulty was brought on by Coghlan's Imprudence and Insulting language, anl Mr. Reed is sustained by all the respectable people cf the Town of Sumter. Coghlan was not seriously hurt, and was attending to bis business as sheriff on Monday last.
