Novembern 5 ?GT NATURE'S GREAT ALLY.-IT TOOK the world nearly two thousand years tb discover and remedy one of the m lit fa.al trrors that mankind has ever behoved in. From thc time ol Galen tu a comparatively very recent date, it was supposed that, in order to cure a disease, it was necessary to weak? en tbe already enfeebled patient by artificial means. Bleeding, blistering, violent purgation and salivation were the main reliance of the faculty, not more than fifty years aga. Restoratives were only administer? ed as supplementary agents, after the lancet, can tharidet, jalap and calomel had done their depleting work. Modern science has effected a salutary re? form in me 'ical treatment In place ot the nauseous doses once administered in cases ot indigestion, bil? iousness, constipation, rick headicho, nervousness, intermittent fever, fcc, HOSTETTEB'S STOMACH BITTERS are now elven with the utmost confidence and ?he happiest results. The reasen w. y tats ad? mirable botanical preparatloa has superseded the debilitating poisons of tho old materia medica are these: it com'lines the properties st a wholesome toole with those of a gentle cathartic, an anti-bilious agent, a nervine, and a blo?d d?purent. Thus, while it keeps th? bowels free, regulates the liver, and purifies the current of life, lt sustains the physi? cal strength of the invalid, and by this means thc ex? pulsion of disease and the restoration of constitu? tional vigor go on together At this season, when intermittent and remittent fevers, with other complaints arising from a damp, mephlt?c atmosphere, are prevalent, a course of the BETTERS is th; best means of protecting the system from an attack. G November 16 ?r ELECrRO-CHEMICAL BATHS ARE now ready at No. 70 KAS11L-S1RE?T, at tho office of Dr. HERVEY M. OLECrLEY, for tho cure of all inveterate chronic affections, which have resisted the treatment of all medication. Gentlemen will be accommodated during office hours, from 7 to 10 A. M., from 2 to 4, and 7 to 10 P. M. Ladies at any other hour, when they will find an experienced Lady to attend them. Dr. CLECKLEY will be glad to see any of his pro? fessional brethren (who are favorable to medical pro? gression), and will take pleasure in exhibiting thc operation of the baths. Certificates of remarkable cure3 could be furni-h cd, but lt is not requisite.
