What Are We Coming ToT If any. additional proof were needed to establish the position taken by the Demo? cratic Convention; that our State govern-, ment is unconstitutional, revolutionary and void, the demand is being supplied daily i by the crazy legislators who are fussinjg and fulminating at Columbia. I .As in the last days of the Roman E mpire, offices of State are here accessible., to the m : highest bidder. And for the convenience of the purchaser, wao^may~be" a creature living by his wits and finding it impossible ' to pay in advance, the settlement of the ! "little transaction" may he postponed, until he is inducted into office and gets control of the public funds. And further, should the credit of the officer elect be insufficient to secure the required bondsmen, he is al? lowed to qualify upon the- guarantee of pani pers and bankrupts. The Legislature, so called, lowers the bonds and refuses to pun? ish the fraudulent securities upon them. Hehc e for th the- only qu?Hncation.for office ?in South Carolina is, that a man should be a-renegade, an adventurer or A negro. Their recent conduct in regard to Charles? ton shows what we may expect fy?re&t?r, ' Anybody drifting into the city, and remain- 1 ing boee ten'days;, is allowed to vote, for municipal! officers. The design of this pro? vision is patent : lt is to1 bring a shiftless, mercenary multitude from the. whole vicin? age of. ?Charleston, -from-island cabins and squatting places on-the main, and:inundate the ^jitf?^ox .with' alien votes. The more ' ?n^eijlgent colore'd people in the city are beginning to abandon the . Radical ._poli ticiane, who, therefore; .resolve that they, will summon the country to the rescue. TheToity ia. to be denied the privilege of Toting for its own officers. By legislative acti i,.it is given over to .the control.of "hands" from the rice swamps and the cotton'fields, and Goths and Vandals from, the wooiis. What prosperity, what secu? rity, what public order can we hope for, under circumstances like these ' ' ? ' We' look: with blank amazement on the tragic-comedy of government which Repub? licanism has invented for us, and which the bayonets of the United States uphold among us. What will be tfie reBnlt ?f%H:thr*'folly and knavery to whi?h we are required to submit? The money of the State will dis? appear, of course-and the carpet-bags. - We may even hope to hear, after .awhile, that MOSES vamoses, finding the ermine too hot fo r this lat i cud e. ; But what are we ito do with this anarchy of legislation'.'; ' with the new rights and the new wrongs spring?, ing up every day; with rival' constitutions - and the conflicting precedents established by them ; with provisional acts which in? vade the ad interim constitution, and also neutralize each Other ? Since COUSIN left '.b?re is no one at hand -to keep the legisla? tion in Janney's Hall in order. Confusion ' i3 worse, confounded. Is it to be imagined that she will drift by ohanoe into a haven ? - LEX THOSE of our colored people who dis? trust the advice of their. Southern friends listen to the words of that bitter, but abie and outspoken Republican journal, the New. York Times. That paper, in its issue of Tuesday last, frankly says: '-We have never "for a moment doubted the permanent po? litical supremacy of the white race over.: i "the whole vast and fertile surface of dur1 "Southern States. The colored man's party "has lately gained success in some elections "in the South ; but while the white race has "onits side numbers, development^ intelli? gence, property and organic superiority, "it is impossible for a people far behind "them in-all these points to retain, for any "length of time, even a show of dom inancy." ; "After the settlement .of all the affairs of "the Southern States, we expect to see a ?urge white immigration there. -And the "South will become strong and energetic, , "and. free, and rieb, and attractive, and "moresunny than ever." The Radicals may falsify a good many of their acts ; bat they cannot deny that what is going on to-day in Columbia is their work. We struggled against it; we pre? dicted what the. consequences of "Recon? struction," so called, would be, but all oar protestations and efforts were scouted as disloyal. Now, let the Republicans take the responsibility. They have weil nigh ruined the State; they have utterly dis? graced the country. TION I PAIN CURED IN AN INSTANT! In 1817 the great grand principle of stopping the most excruciating pain in an instant, without em? ploying such dangerous agents aa Chloroform, Opium, Morphine, Acontine, Ether, 6c, was drat made known in BADWAYS READY RELIEF. This remedy accomplished this wonderful and de? lightful desideratum in all cases of external and In? ternal pain. LT an Instant it afforded relief; the moment it was applied to tho parts ot the body where inflammation or pain existed-it at once re? lieved the patient of the most violent and excruciat? ing pangs and throbs of pain, and imparted the de? lightful sensation of ease and comfort. Every kind of pain, whether Rheumatism, Neu? ralgia, Toothache, Pal s in the Chest, Side, Lungs, Stomach, Bowels, Kidneys, Spine, Legs, Arms, Peet, one application was sufficient to kill and ex ter a ina13 the pain. Taken internally, twenty drops to a teaspoonful would cure, and will cure, Asiatic Cholera, Fever and Ague, Chilla and Fever, Bilious Colic, Inflam? mation of the Bowels, Cramps, Spasms, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, and every pain that may exist in the in? side of man, woman or child; this was BADWAY'a READY RELIEF of 1847, and it is RADWAT'S RE? LIEF, greatly improved, in 1868. We then started it in its mission of relieving the infirm, para-stricken, sick, distressed and crippled of all nations throughout the world, and now to-day it is used, patronized and revered as a household necessity, in the palaces of Sultans, Emperors, Haimos, Kings, High Priests, Noblea, aa well aa in the cottages of the laboring classes of every nation on the face cf the earth. CONGESTION OF THE LUNGS CUBED IN THIRTY MINUTES ! Important to Know now to Lae "Rad. -way's Ready Relief" in Acute and Dangerous Attacks I MT OWN CASE. On Saturday night, the 19th, I was violently seized with Congestion of the Lungs. For a few days pre? vious I felt a dull pain over my left hug, with occasional cough*, but being actively engaged, paid no attention to it. When seized, the pam was so piercing, cutting and excruciating, that every breath drawn was like a red hot knire cutting my long. Be? in" abo'. nt fi om home, I sent out for three bottles or pa nw A ya RELIEF, applied the entire lot to my lungs, huck, shoulders, ?c., and tn a few moments got up couuter-irritation. Respirations were easy, and, as thc skin became reddened, all pain ceased. In half an hour I was free from pain, and all signs of Congestion, Infl. mmation, sc, gone. This is aa important cure. It is well that every one should know bow to use this remedy in severe attacks. The same rule holds good in cases of Inflammation of the Loins, Bowels, Kidneys and Stomach. Apply the RELItF freely; soak the skin with it. It will instantly secure the withdrawal of the inflammation to the surface, and persons now suffering may, in TKXRT7 inKUTES, bc free from pain. CBBONIC INFLAMMATION. In cases where inflammation baa existed for a length of bme, in addition to the RELIEF, take six ot KADWAY'S FILLS. Powder them. In half on hour, in most case?, they will operate. If not, re? peat the dose. In one or two boura at the furthest they will operate, and the patient soon get weu. In Bilious, Typhoid, Fever and Ague, this treatment ia sure to cure. Let it be tried. JOHN RADWAY, M D. ts- Dr. RAD WAY'S REMEDIES are sold by Drug? gists and Storekeepers everywhere.
