Lost In eternity. Tlae Cotton Crop. . The impression that a large crop of cotton will be made is gaining ground, Trat the reports from all parts of the South do not warrant it. We have before us, toconnts from Texas, Louisi? ana and Mississippi, which art 'rory gloomy. The Now Orleans Picayune publishes a letter from a gentleman every way reliable, who has been on I visit to his plantation m Texas. Hear? ing gloomy accounts he would not behove them without personal observation. " JHgtag toa? that looked well on the lat of August he now ?nd* them so completely ruined, that not a bole will be made on a handled acres, and on M, own niece tho cotton is so completely de? stroyed tt*i he will not gather albale. Ofcourse th* ts not the case generally, but the yield has been eui short, and to an alarming extent. It is safe to aay, that neither in Louisiana nor Texas, w?] the crop bo one-half what it was expected six weeks Jp. Ti e fact is also to be remembered ?hat none of the ola crop is on hand, while this time last year a laige amount of it wa? sn the in? terior of Texas, Heporta from manypanaheain Louisiana are eqtially distreasing. The WMH; of rain in manv parla of Alabama has injured the Cotton, and the worm will still do some damage. We hope, however, that tho fears on this account, wm prove groundless. In Southwestern Georgia, sad atong the ?ea coast, there has bean anunpre cetouVedTlong spell of wet weather, and the effect on the Cotton has been very injurious. It is well enough for the country to know these things. The crop m Alabama will be better than iastyear, and the oom crop certainly is satisfac? tory two things which combined will necessarily kaeoalareo amount of money tn our midst, that w vear went into the pocket? of Northern and Westra oom growers. While the aggregate Moonnt of ootton will be sniafler than was expected, th? deficiency from Alabariia wij be lewTperhapa, than any other State, and there? fore the resulting benefit from good pnces will be greater. Foreign markets are not so dependent upon American Cotton ai in years ?Stand the recent decline in Liverpool can probably be attributed to two thing?, reports fron this country of large crops and receipts from Indis, and other placea increasing the stock oa hand, it ia well known that a largo qvvitaty of the present rrop will bo consumed by domestic manufacturers, irom the fact that there ia not one hundred thousand bales of ootton on this side of the Atlantic, sud tho weekly consumption of fif? teen thonaa?. i bales will soon work it ad up; Many nulls do not run their full fbi*.*. It they did, the supply on hand would be exhausted before tho present crop could get into the market On the whole, the prospect for profit to the Ahearne planter is good. His storehouses are filled with oom wheat, is abundant, and the prices of meat, we hope, will materially decline in the next six weeks. Those who sell cotton early generally come ont best in the end.-Mcmtgomery MatL COMMERCIAL, iSxpcrts. BALTIMORE-Per sehr E J Palmer-110,000 feet Lum? ber. 74 bblfl Bown.
