COTTON.-On the 31st ult, the commencement of the week, the market was advancing, prices at the close of tho day b*ing on the basis of 25>;?26 cents fl tb for Middling Upland. On Saturday the staple became some? what stiffer, Middling Upland selling at 26 cents ft Bi, which rates continued until Wednesday, when quotations subsided about \ cent ft lb, which placed prices ss they stood orv tr, e first day of tbs week. The receipts of the week have been 9 bales of Sea Island and 1742 bales of Upland Cotton, against 7 bales of Sea Island and 1320 bales Upland Cot? ton the week before. NEW ORLEANS, June 1.-Conow-The market to-day has exhibited reversed activity. Opening with a liberal inquiry, the movement at s later hour was additionally stimulated by tho receipt of further favorable accounts from New York and Liverpool, and, notwithstanding, factors materially enhanced their pretensions, and the Bupply offering afforded Utile scope to buyers, still quite a large business bas been transacted, aggregating at the close fully 4300 bales, twelve brokers participating lu the business. Prices indicated an improved feeling, the greater portion of the sales effected realizing figures sp proxlmattng the subjoined quotations: Ordinary 20a22c ; Good Ordinary 23>{a-; Low Middling 35a-; and Mid? dling 26Sa27. the market, closing rather unsettled, but withs tendency decidedly upward. We can? not give accurate quotations to-day. The stock of Cuba Sugar and Molasses on hand is quite large, but there is no movement whatever. Advices just from Cuba are favorable for holders, however, and such that the asking prices mr Sugar have been advanced lc per lb. No im? provement in Molasses. COHN-The market ls dull, but prices are unchanged. The supply is liberal. MANCHESTER, May 21.-This market bits been quiet to-day, and destitute of anything li'?e activity in thc de? mand.
