MAYOR'S COURT, April 13.-There was hardly any business to occupy the attention of bis Honor this morning, and a small fine for a slight offence was the only penalty inflicted. BEMOVAL OP FOLKJE IN WILMINGTON.-We learn that some removals have been made by military authority, from she jpolice force in Wju^nington and that the whole poke ? of that city bas been put un? der the supervision of the Post Commander there -the reason given being a want of discretion and . impai -ality in their proceedings. GREAT BARGAINS IN DBY GOODS.-A reference to the advertisement of J. FRANK, who is selling a large quantity of goods, slightly damaged at the late fire, at very low prices, will no doubt cause a rush of purchasers, who are willing to get good ar? ticles at cheap rates. We feel satisfied that No. 192 King street will be visited by crowds. MILITARY.-Mr. J. W. NICHOLS has been ap? pointed Paymaster for this the Second Military District. He is ordered to report without delay to the General commanding, and subject to his approval, make e. detailed estimate for funds to be used in this special service, to embrace the period of one month next ensuing, and thereafter make in like manner further monthly estimates for such sums as may be required for the execntion of tho same acts of Congi ess. SERMON TO YOTJSG LADIES.-Trinity Church was again rilled to overflowing last night, and the audi? ence was composed principally of that class to whom the sermon was specially addressed. Ber. E. J. MEYSABDIB, the pastor, spoke of the influ? ence woman had exerted over man, even at the . earliest period, ar d showed that he? power to do good had never been lessened. Her devotion to the Saviour during his trials and hmniliation was commented upon ind a comparison was drawn be? tween the male and female characters. The sub? ject was made deeply interesting and .the sermon was listened to with, marked attention. We under? stand that this series is to be continued. PERSONAL.-Owing to a mistake in the address, we only received ca Saturday a note, dated the 28th Maren, from Hon. O. W. DUDLEY, in which Mr. DUDLEY says that the reference to (CBennettsville,!> in the prefatory remake of the NEWS to tho repub? lication of an article from, the Herald, signed t ' 'Carolinians, " bas induced some persons to consid - t er bim tho author, and adds: "Perhaps the writers f Juki no intention of pointing publio attention to myself, br1 quch has been the effect, and I only wish to say that it is a mistake entirely. " Mr. DUD? LEY may feel .assured that the expression of per sonal kindness which accompanies this correction is fully ' reciprocated, and, wc think we may add, that no one suspected him of the authorship of the unfriendly, personal criticisms which discred? ited what was o th ar wise both a clever and interest? ing communication. GEORGIA MEDIC LL ASSOCIATION.-Thia important I y organization met in Griffin on Tuesday, about for- J ? ty members being in attendance. The Star gives the proceedings of the first day.
