[FOn THE WEEK ENDINO t'11IDAY, NOVEMnEU 30.[ COTTON.- Tho uncertainties and tho many now ele ments which enter into the value of American cotton, is causing great caution on the part of buyers generally, bolb Northern and European. They suffered so much from erroneous calculations last year, that they may bo expected lo act with great caro, and oxhibit but Uttlo speculative feeling until the season progresses and tho developments tako placo upon which safe calculations can be made. Tho limited demand for cotton goods in the British market, and the consequent working of short time by the manufacturers, is having a depressing effect upon prices at present-, but with tho public peace undisturbed, this stito of affairs can hardly be of long continuance, and with the prosout very "small crop of American cotton wo think that tho grower in this country may not only look for steady but even enhanced prices. Tho roceipts at this point for tho past week show a fulling off, and the exports arc also less than tho week before. The slight improvement of >"'d. at Livorpool, with a light stock and much flrmne.-8 on the part of factors, advanced prices about l,.c. ?. lb during the week; but yesterday Liver pool having again fallen off, prices receded here about le. _> lb. The following report is a statement of tho transactions for th ] week : On Friday tho market was dull and declining, prices falling from ,'i to le. %. lb.; sales somo 237 bales. Mid dling Cotton soiling about 31c. %. lb. On Saturday, sellers having in most casos withdrawn their stock, the market stiffened and tho decline of the day beforo was recovered ; sales 202 bales, on n basis of 31 J. to 32c. f. lb. for Middling Cotton, and 150 balcB ad ditional were disposed of during tho afternoon, after an Improvement in the Liverpool market was announced, al a slight advauco. On Monday tho favorablo advices from abroad u-usod the rates to advance from 1}_ to 2c. on the prices or Fri day and Saturday, with transactions amounting to near 300 balos, Middling Cotton being quoted at 33 to 33. _c. On Tuesday the market was dull, omi tho rates wero a ._ cent lower, but in the lattor part of tho day tboro was rather a bettor feeling, sales amounting to 252 balos, Mid dling Cottou being quoted at 33 cenfs.
