The grave on which sho sat was that of her former young master, who had been killed In battle during the late wai. He had been her charge In his infanoy and boyhood, and In his manhood he was her pride and her delight. Other resolutions ot thanks were passed in favor of parties for printing material; to proprietors of hotelB for sale of tickets; for the use of the Masonic Hall; to the newspaper offices, and to various gentlemen for courtesies extended. COURT OF GENEBAL SESSIONS AND COMMON PLEAS. - Thie Court met at the usual hour yesterday morning, pursuant to adjournment, and proceeded to tho transac? tion of business. Several true billa were found by the Grand Jury on yesterday, and the accused, in the fol? lowing cases, were arraigned : i The State vs. James Oloar, Miohael Stanton, and John Jenkins, charged with burglary and larceny, to-day, the 21st, was assigned for their trial. The State vs. Thomas Roaoh, oharged, also, with bur? glary and larceny, and to-day appointed for bis trial, and The State vs. James Sullivan, accused of larceny. 'J he State vs. Richard Dubue, for burglary and lar? ceny. _ The case of the State vs. W. T. LOVETT and HENRY BIQQABD, for retailing (spirituous liquors without a Bcenee, next came up for trial, and the Jury rendered a verdict of "guilty" as to the latter defendant, and "not guilty" as to the former. After thia case was disposed of, JOSEPH OAVOHEB, oharged with the same offence, was tried, and had rendered against him a vervict of ..guilty." The Grand Jury came into Court and presented true bills in the following oases : State vs. Huon CALLAN, for murder. State vs. Joan W. FREIZ, for larceny and re-1 oeiving stolen goods. State vs. G. H. BULWINKLE and JOHN BULWINKLE, for retailing spirituous liquors with? out ; license; and State vs. J. B. MOLTJRB, JAB. G. Mc GEKLY, and -- MILLER, for larceny. " The Jurors were then dismissed ; and, after the I transaction of some other matters not requiring their services, the Court adjourned to meet this day at 10 o'clock A. M. PROVOST COURT, Juno 20.-United States vs. Paul Pinckney and Michael McBride (colored).-House | Breaking.-Thomas Turner, (colored) sworn: At No. 46 Society-street last night, between 10 and ll o'clock, in the house I hired from Ur. VARDELL; paid him $5 on account of rent; I took his receipt; he told meit was mine; I went into possession same day, and locked it up last night; tho defendants broke lt open, and I found them there and called a Policeman to take thom out; defendant Pinokney said it was his shop; Pinckney , formerly occupied it, but has been absent about nine | days; tho dofendant hired it before that, and had boon Uving there about 9 months; there wero a few thlngB there belonging to them. Defendant Pinckney, at request of Court, stated hie j claim, aHd made it out very good. Discharged. In thia case Assoolato Judge MCBLAIR lectured the prosecuting witness OE. the absurdity of his case, and ? informed him if he carno hero with such a casu again he, as well as defendant, would bo fined. She called me everything she could think of, and Bald I threatened to set Aro to the house. In this case the Court delivered the following sound opinion and wiso sentence; "Defendant guilty of abuse and quarrelling with Catherine Bogers. Prosecuting wituesB and defendant both equally guilty of disturbing the neighborhood, and sentenced to pay a fins of $5 each orto be put to hard labor for five days, subject to the order of the Post Commander." United States vs. Butcher Gregley (colored).-John DaviB (colored), s>vorn : I lost $75 middle of last week, also lost a red card of $60 on the Savings Bank Of Beau? fort. I live on Aiken's Bow; haye been living there a month; no one lives with me but prisonerI showed the money to prisoner,a week before.I lost-it; missed it last Wednesday; money was in an.ienvelopBTm a little box; saw the money on BWte, and ??at ? man $10; it waa four days between thiptime I saw it and the time I lost it; prisoner lived with me four weeks; he works at tho ordnance yard; prisoner had no money before I lost mino; afterwards saw him with $1.60 and some paper and a bucket of molasses; prisoner said he had lost a pocket book; asked h.ip^^j?pid a pocketbook, as be had tontine before he ?ad none; said yes, he had found one wilri ?"'dollar ar?^^ah" in it; last night ho said he had bought it^^'alft^man new pookot book. De fefidanrnot guilty and recommended to bo discharged. .-lo ' MAJOR'S COURT, WEDNESDAY MOBNINO, June 20. One half the world does not know how the other half Urea, and the glimpses that may be had into the ufo of that other half every morning at the Mayor's Court are not of a character to tempt to a further view. The few minutes spent there this morning were enough to tempt any one belonging to the ono half of the world to wish for the callousness of a Podsnap, which, by the mere waive of an ar m, could dismiss the disagreeable other half forever from the mind. First appeared an abjVct individual eomo fifty years of age, without a coat, charged with being found drunk in the streets. He had nothing to say in his defence, and was fined $5. Secondly there appeared a hardened, disgusting look? ing wretch, with a beard three days old, and a mis? shapen mouth besmeared with tobacco juice. Ho also was drunk in the streets, and was fined $5. He depart? ed reluctantly, being forced out by the police, while he mumbled some unintelligible protest against the treat? ment which ho received. A wretched looking woman, well-known about town asa beggar and a drunkard, appeared against a burly I individual, likewise of ill repute, for having beat her ! With a stick. She had a horrible gash on bur forehead, which she said was inflicted by the prisoner. But the prisoner said that the woman waa drunk and fell out of bcd. As neither of them looked as if they could tell the truth, and if the charge was true the crime was too great for the cognizance of the Court, bis Honor referred the oase to a magistrate. Last appeared a woe-begone and mortified Rhode Islander, who looked as if he might once have been a decent man. He was caught last night sleeping in a cur with negroes. He told a doleful tate of having been in government employ, and now having nothing to do. Re promised to use his utmost exertions to reach a more northern latitude, and, with a few words of warn? ing, his Honor discharged him. AND STILL THEY COME TO SHH.-The fam e of Prof, EHEHHARDT is extending far beyond the limits of Charleston. Persons with impaired sight are coming from the counties of South Carolina and North Carolina, and returning home rejoicing that they can see now as ia the bright days of youth. The professor's rooms are slmost continually crowded, and "still they como."
