Text: "If thine eye offend thee pluck it out." Mr. McGuire is a Georgian by birth and education and has come among us well recom mended, We think he is one among the best preachers of our upcountry, and every Christian ought to give him all the encouragem ent that he deserves. Dr. T. M. Bailey was with us the 1st Sunday in June, and we were delighted to see him an d glad we had some money to give him. The grain erop this year made a fair yield, though nothing to compare to.the. good one made last year. The majority of our farmers made plenty of wheat to do them. Crops in this section are better than any we have seen. Upland corn is be ing laid by by some of our farmers, while cotton is heavy loaded with squares, and we will have blooms in a few days. We tell you, Mr. Editor, as a whole our farmers cannot be excelled. They are second to none when it comes to straight out farming.
