EniTon: Some limo ago thc American Baptist Publication Society issued a circular calling ou nil tho Sun dny Schools in the United States to obsorvc tho tho second Sabbath in Juno as "Children's Day," and also published u programuio for tho occasion. Tho Su perintendent of Big Creek S. 8., iu com Sllanos with this request, appointed the rat Sunday instead of tbo second, it be ing the regular preaching day at this church. The Pastor kindly omitted the regular service, in order that tbo day might be devoted to the children. At 10 o'clock tho houso was lilied to overflowing bj tho patenta and children of thc surrounding couutry. At tho ap Coiuic? hour ibo Superintendent tapped ls boll, and Ibo choir aroso and sang a beautiful voluntary selected for the occa sion, oller which tho regular programme was carried out to tho lotter, which con sisted of tho reading of soloct portions of | the Scripluro, with responses from the whole school, interspersed with beautiful and appropriate hymns. Speakors were also invited to address tho children, the first heine tho beloved pastor, Rev. R. W. Burts, who delivorod to the school a for cible and practical talk on tho subject, "Tho Lord's need of little children." Ho was followed by L. P. Smith on a kindred subject. Tho closing speech was doll verod by Col. John O. Cllukscales, giving us ono of those eloquent Sunday School talks for which bo IB BO eminently gifted, showing to parouts the groat responsibility of training up children "in tho nurture and admonition of tho Lord. Tho congregation at Big Creek have a fine brick building, commodious and coin Tenable. The pulpit and walls were decorated with lovoly flowers and ever greens, adding very much to tho ploasuro of the occasion. Mr. Allen W. The singing was un usually good, and it was refreshing to ace the hearty sud active intorost manifested in this department of tho school by noarly overy scholar present. In fact, ovorything was conducted in first-class ordor, and I am suro thc day will long bo remembered with a groat doal of ploasuro by those present, and will no doubt result in much good to the people of that section of tho County, lt was particularly enjoyed by tho writor, who will not soon forgot the happy day spont with those good people H.
