Nine of the sixty-six delegates to w hich the Daptlsts of this State are entitled in the Southern Baptist Convention, which meet* in Atlanta on the 8th prox., have been ap pointed from the Saluda Association. The unveiling of tho Confederate Monu ment in Cullimbin will take place on the 13th of May, and w ill doubtless be a grand occasion. The Palmetto Riflemen, together with ninny others of our citizens, expect to be present. A short time sinco we had the pleasur. of going overa portion of thc farm of Mr. D. S. White, in the Fork township, which is certainly conducted with as much method and rskill as any that wc lu.ve seen in the County. Mr. White is one of the progres sive young far mers of the ('ounty, and in a few years will have bin place ill the high est possible state of cultivation. The rope-walker paid us a visit last week, and performed on Thursday and Friday afternoons. His rope was stretched from Ibo top of thc store of Messrs. D. P. He displayed considerable skill in bis perform ances, and large crowds were out to see him on each afternoon, although thc sight was not a pleasant one. His collections were Minali. Mrs. Seaborn was a daughter of (Jen. John Baylis Barle and the wife of tlie lat?-Maj (jeorgc Seaborn. She was greatly beloved mid adiuirctl by all who knew ber f. ir thc many excellencies of character which she had exhibit..1 throughout a long and useful life in all of its relations. As a lady, educated, refined, accomplished, viva cious and amiable, she was au ornament to society, and attracted many friends, uf whose company she was always fond. Asl a wife, true, devotee,* and considerate; as a mother, loud, affectionate and thoughtful, and, as one of the heads of a large and re filled family, she rendered the home circle bright und happy to all its members, and helped to impress those traits of character upon her children, which lias given to so ciety useful ?md honorable men and intel ligent and cultivated ladies. Mrs. Seaborn was [ io SS ess ed ofa very remarkable energy, which rendered lier up to the beginning of her las! ?lines- active and cheerful, although over soveiity-tlirvc years of age. She pos sessed a highly cultivated mind, and up to the lust wa- a great reader of literature and ; news, taking a wonderful interest in both. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal ('burch tit Pendleton, though not a pro fessed member of the Cb Ut ch until the more recent part of her life. She evinced throughout life a pure and Christian life, and at last passed quietly and happily from earth to the future rewards of the just. Her mind remained clear to the last, and her cheerfulness never forsook ber. Al though suffering intensely she did not linn m ur, but evinced that fortitude and patience which is only possessed by an ap proving conscience. Mrs. Seaborn leaves many children, relatives and friends who, though sorrowing at the separation, weep not for her that has gone to rest from thc cares of earth in the blessedness of a hap pier and better world. V. M. C. A. Thc Fourth Annual State Convention of Y. M. C. A. of this State will convene in the Methodist Church at this place this (Thursday) evening ?it S o'clock. The Charleston A'eiw and fancier, in giv ing a short account of the semi-annual com mencement of the charleston Female Acad emy, speaking of the part taken in thc ex ercises of thc occasion by a young lady who is greatly admired by many of our readers, says : The 104th Psalm was then recited in con cert, after which Miss Annie Sloan read a chaste and beautiful greeting. Her descrip tion of spring, with all ila sweet enchant ments, teemed with lovely imagery, and was as airy and melodious as the strains of an .Folian harp. She made touching allu sion to the harvests of death in the fever stricken cities of thc Southwest last sum mer, expressing gratitude that our own loved homes were mercifully "im.-s-.ed over" by the destroying angel. Baster Celebration nt SI. Paul's Church, l'onilleton, s. c. Mu. EDITOR: The services at the Fpisco pal Church on Faster Sunday in Pendleton were conducted by the Pastor, the Rev. W. H. Unlicked. The Hermon was from the text, "the Lord is risen, indeed," and was as usual a very fine ene. The Church was crowded by a'.l denominations, no doubt in n measure attracted thereto by the elaborate decorations, which far surpassed anything seen here fora long time, and the ladies en gaged therein deserve great credit. On first entering the Church tho eye was attracted to the sentence, "Christ is Risen," suspend ed by invisible cords across the eil!lice, sur mounted by a dove in thc act of Hying, with au olive branch in its mouth. Hang ing-baskets, full of moss interspersed with Howers, were suspended up the mnin aisle. Back of thc communion table was u beauti ful cross, in white, on ground of arbor-vita' ; above the cross a crown, white and gilt ; in front of the communion rail was a pyramid of geraniums, cupped by the baptismal font, in which was a group of calla lillies. The gallery posts were completely clothed in a coat of mail, formed of laurel leaves. In fact, nearly every part of the Church capable of being adorned was taken advan tage of, to help form a lout entcmldc hardly deemed possible, with the few resources in thc way of Howers, &c., procurable here at this seimon. .
