Mr. B. died of typhoid fever, after an illness of about ten days, leaving six children to mourn their loss. Mr. Burriss removed from this Coun? ty to Texas some twenty-five or thirty years j afro, where he settled and remained nntil his deaub. The Abbeville Medium notices the death of Mrs. Addie V., wife of William Wake field, formerly of this County, which oc? curred at the residence of her husband in Abbeville County on the 27th of March last, after a long and painful illness with chronic bronchitis. She had been a consist ent member of the Baptist Church for years, and died in the full hope of a blessed im? mortality. The Greenville Newt is troubled to fix the date of the snow which fell in April. 1849, from the fact that its informants differ in their recollection as to the time. Several of our oldest citizens agree that it came en the 15th of April, and they also say that Sun? day was the day. By a reference to the Almanac of 1849, it will be seen that the 15th of April of that year came on Sunday. There is, therefore, no doubt that in 1849 a heavy snow fell on the 15th of April. Such an occurrence on the 15th of this month would have done immense damage to vege? tation and forward crops. Pianos at the McSmith Music House for $190, Gieenville, 8. C. t KORTHERN" VISITORS. A committee from the National Vine Growers' Association, consisting of Gen. Smolcnski, Col. Bliss and Dr. Tyndall, ar? rived in Anderson on last Saturday night, and spent a couple of days In viewing dif? ferent localities of Anderson County. They came as the guests of Hon. B. F. Crayton, and on Monday morning a portion of the delegation returned to Abbeville County, leaving Dr. Tyndall. who was carried over a portion of the County by Gen. W. W. Humphreys and Mr. D. S. Maxwell. They expressed themselves as highly pleased with South Carolina, but did not indicate the particular point of their preference. From their description of their trip so far, we arc satisfied that the County of Abbeville has made a very favorable impression upon them. From the. fact that their views of ] this County was very superficial and im? perfect, they will not be apt to rate the County as high as they would do upon a more thorough examination. They were pleasant, practical and cultivated gentle? men, whose visit in our midst was a social pleasure to those of our citizens who met them, anc it will no doubt lead to the be? ginning of an immigration of capitalists to the State which will be of advantage to them and to our people. Members who can ore re? quested to attend, and all others who culti? vate and appreciate good music. In many respects Anderson is onsidered the banner County of the State. We think it is mu? sically. And we believe these musical as? sociations have helped to make it so. Therefore let us not be weary in well doing, but persevere in doing all we can to elevate and improve this delightful part of God's worship. J. 0. DOUTHTT, President Populak Magazine*.?Scribner's Monthly and St. Nicholas for May, are superb speci? mens of American enterprise, taste and genius. In the mechanical department the publications are np to the usual high charac? ter of Scribner & Co., the illustrations are admirable in spirit anc. execution, and the literary matter from uhe brightest pens in the country has a fresh attractiveness that tells well for both the writers, and the edi? tors who passed upon it. No wonder these magazines have reacbxl such wide popu? larity. Illustration by Pictuhks.?One of the great contrasts between the School Books used by the fathers and mothers of the land, when young, and those now used by the children, is the ose of pictures. An a carious instance of iUastrating the mean? ing of words by pictures, look at the three pictures of a Ship o^page 1751 of Webster's Unabridged Dictionary?these alone illus? trate the meaning of more than one hundred words and terms far be ;ter than they can be defined by any description in words. The result of these diseases upon the masses of intelligent and valuable people is most alarming, mak? ing life act ually a burden instead of a pleas? ant existence of enjoyment and usefulness as it ought to be. There is no good reason for this, if you will only throw aside preju? dice and skepticism, take the advice of Drug g'sta and your friends, and try one bottle of reen's August Flower. Your speedy relief is certain. Millions of bottles of this med? icine have been given away to try its virtues, with satisfactory results in every case. You can buy a sample bottled for 10 cents to try. Three doses will relieve the worst case.? Positively sold by all Dru;rjrlst3 on the Wes? tern Continent. Next Town ? Ahead where they loan you a dollar and chalk it down till to-morrow, for a bottle of Mebrell's Hepatine for the Liver. The enormous expense of importing the ingre? dients of this great liver medicine into this country, is why our Druggists, Simpson, Heid & Co., sell but one sample bottle to the same person for ten cents; but as there am fifty doses in the large size bottles, it is cheap enough after all at two cents per dose, for a medicine that has never been known to fail iu the cure of dyspepsia and all diseases of the liver. It has never failed in the cure of liver complaint when taken us directed, no matter of how long standing the disease. It cures Chills and Fever.
