There is, perhaps,.; corn enough to feed those who are usable to.buy dour, but they hare not the means to buy corn. It is in the hands of a few persona, and they trill only sell fbr cash at a dollar a bushel. Not one third of those who need to buy corn hare the dollar, or any means of getting itrfor the money* like the cordis, out of the reach of the destitute. We are no panic maker, but of this we feel certain and speak advisedly, that in thirty days from this time* unless those who have a surplus agree to part with it, on' time, at a fair price, it will be distributed and carried away by bands 0f desperate men, to feed their starving families.. He was the child of pious parents, who early instructed him la the principles and precepts of the gospel. and under the blowing of that God who la ever faithful to his covenant, vonng Baas was led to the Sarfor, and to devote' htawelf to the service -of his Hodernvr. He united himself with the Independent Preebvterian Church, and ever afterward maintained a strictly upright, honorable and pious deportment. In 1854 he was elected and ordained o Ruling Elder In Ohioy Chnreh, but soon afterward removed to Arkansas, where he continued to reside until the time of his death. We ha ve known but few Instances in which the power of Religion to regulate the conduct and Hfe, as well aa to cheer and animate the spirit, has been more clearly manifested, and Illustrated than In the ease of him whose death Is here recorded. Religion was not with him a garb for the Sabbath, to be laid aside during the week, but for all times and seasons. He was eminently a conscientious, devoted, and active christian; and having served-and honored his Master here, he baa gone, we doubt not, to enjoy his presence, and to behold bis glory in the heavenly temple.
