It is said his plat form only required two hours' labor, at the expiration of which space, it stood forth "a thing of beauty." Byas would have no reason to say this if a more profitable occupation should invite him to {migrate in the future from this County. We do not see how tho white citizens of our County can hesitate to make a choice between ?yas and Jamison. C, September 30th, 1S72 Mr.-, Dear Sir : I writo these lines to inform you that I have be n to sec my friend, Mr. Alex. Brown, who informed me that Mr. II. Uiggs lollowed him on his way home Sunday mi ruing from Orangeburg until be caught him, and asked him to let him put bis nan o on Iiis Bolters' ticket, which he utterly reluscd, and told him plainly not to do so. After he found that Mr. Brown took no part with him. ho told him to tell me to come to Oraugeburg on Mon day to say whether I would let- him put my name on on bis ticket or uot. But I dou't yield support to any such Bolt as that. Ho may put my nun*, on his ticket without my authority, and I therefore request that if you should hoar of any such act, to beg Mr. K. I. t'ttin, J. L. Jamison and T. C. Andrews to tell them that I am no bolting Repub lican, that I am a real licpublicun, ami expect to vote the regular ticket headed by F. J. Graham Judtjc. of First Circuit: The grand jury now iu attendance upon this Court respectfully submit the follow ing report: In discha gi of our duty wo have v'si ted the several public offices, and Bud the sheriff's office in good order. The office of the Clcik of Court is. as lure toforc leportcd, in perfect order. I ho office of Judge of Probute was closed up and ffc were unable to examine it-, condition. In tho Treasurer's office wj found a clerk who iu for mod us that the Tiva-u rer was pnb-tbly ? it his farm. This clerk did not. seem at all familiar with the office. Ho was unable to answer our interrogatories as to receipts, expeudi lures and cash oil baud at all satisf.cto rilly. * ' Tho School Commissioner's office wo found badly kept und the books in dis order and exhibiting frequent mistakes. We have already reported this office in competent, but tbero seems to be no remedy, but u new election, which being near at haud, wo hope will result in filling this important ollioo with a per son fitted to discharge its duties. In tho County Commissioners office we found nntbing wrong except the Poor House Accounts we find that the expenses of the establishment for a little over five months amounted to nearly five hundred dollars, and there being upon an average but ei^ht persons iu the Poor House during this time, we consider this expense enormous. Wo find, by examining the accounts of this institution, that a very high charge is made upon each article furnished, aod is allowed by the Hoard. This was ex plained to us by the Clerk of the Hoard who seemed to have charge of the Poor House in this way. He siys that he is obliged to allow these high prices bo cause the accounts are paid iu County Orders which have to be sold at a dis count. Wo present this course of the Hoard of County Commissioners to the Court as highlv reprohonslblo and a^ official misconduct fbr which wo pro sent them fbr indictment. The Poor Ilouso itself exhibits no signs of this lavish cxpoudituro of tho people's money. Wo find there three lunatic persons, who ?xe think should bo sont to un Asylum for tho Insane. We visited the offices of tho two Trial Justioes, at the Court Housa and find the docket book of J. Felder Meyers vory irregulurly and badly kept. Wo have also, examiucd the office aud books of Trill Justice A. F. Browning aud fiud thorn kept in business like and proper man net-. 1 ndeed wo wero pre pared to find this to be the orse from the com inundations und praises we had heard of this office during our attend ance at Court und from our enquires in to these matters. We most heartily recommend Mr. Browning as a competent and faithful loffieer; one who thoroughly understand tho duties of his office, aud promptly aud efficiently discharges thetu.v We iucorporuto aud uiake part ot this our report tho affidavit of D A.
