*At*t*G AND DBEA1I1G. THK LAY OF AN UN&EQ?ITED LOVK. ? ?'MAfMOO S?KA??85a aK0H'AlUHOS? 1 walled once for the spring lo come On joyous wing from its southern home, I? robes of the rainbow's hue ; . x ? * $ j; *> And eagerly watched for its blooming feet; For I knew where to find the wind-flowers sweety And the nooks where the violets grew. - Ami I waited, too, for my roses bright To unfold their leaves in the summer light; ... Aid ^niongth*many theie. Wm on* bud fairer than all the rest, One7that I loved by Ar the beat, And guarded with tenderest eare. Ah! never was breast than' mine more lorn Or bitterer tear-drops shed, I found that a worm its heart bid torn. And my rase was seethed and dead. 10 I waited again for my "life" to bloom? I dreamed by night, and morn, and noon Of its flower that would be so fair ; It haunted my thoughts, and grew to be, With its deep and hidden myatery, Its nntold treasures rare, The one great end, to which my eoul Looked] forth as to a nappy goal. Waited Ah! would that the mystic ohain Which my fanoy were, and whose magic gleams. Were forever shinning in my dreams, Might come to me again ! I watched for the morning light to shine On this rare and radiant flower of mine, Whose blossom would soon be blown; .??jtj% ?ftt/*i The eun rose fair,?bnt nis earliest ray t) (/; Chased every dream of hope awajfc xhc joy of my i!f? w4b flown: For cold despair with a poisoned dart Transfixed my flower to its inmost heart ; And my Tips mado uioan, made moan. III. Ldaed raised .me an airy castle, in the morning soft and bright ; An! my heart had climbed with eager feet, up its winding-stair of light ; I knew its walls were built but of rainbow, and mist, and cloud, Tet still on its topmost turret I had waited seoure and proud ; Waited and watched for "'him," whom my soul long yearned to greot,? ~ tbe trumpet sound, that should herald his coming feet, > spi Hi was twin to ndne; and I thought,?Ah \ foolish me !? "< the castle ??! * had buildcd, the joy of ??his" life would be ; i That together we should wander through its halls so grand and fair ; That his touch would change my rainbows to arches of jewels rare ; And that all my fihnly dream-work, beneath his gentle tread. And the glance of his wondrous eyes, would be gold of burning red. ir. He came at last ! I eaw the halo round bie brow. And beard the sound that thrills me now? His bugle blast, t Oh ! it wa? bard ; I stretched my arms to him with one wild cry; But with a cold, eold glance, he passed me by, ? No sign of recognition In his eye? No loving word'. . My castle fell; Iis shining bowers of mist dissolved in tears; For that one glsnce dissolved the dream of years? ??Farewell! Farewell'." . My poor heart cried, Aa crushed and broken on the ground I lay; Bleeding and bruised, it moaned its life away, Ami died. V. Dreaming no more of him, I am waiting now in the twilight dim. For an angel's voice and hand, To tell me the longings of life are past, and guide to that happier home at last. In the far-off sunset land. 1 dream of that region ao bright and fair, I dream of that bliss that shall meet me there. Where my flower shall bloom again ; I wait for the joys of the life divine. Where angels' loving hearts shall t wine . Their tendrils around this heart of mine; And I shall not wait in vain. The Law or Divorce.?Tho Green ville Enterprise says: Judge Orr hnB rendered an adverse decision in tho case of John H. Walker vs. Mary J. Walker, petition for divorce. The ease has been held under considera tion siuce. last court, and the legal pro fession will be indebted to the Judge for the very learned and able opinion in the ease. We have examined thin opinion ; it will form a land-mark in future cases. The Judge distinctly indicates that the Court of Equity of th|s State always had the power to exercise jurisdiction in di vortk. cases. We have fong been of the opinion, notwithstanding the uniform disclaimers of the Judge, and have al ways believed that a Court of Equity could and ought to hare granted divorces wbero there existed the scriptural justi fication. It is manifest that Judgo Orr Would restriet the grouting of divorces to esses of the moat aggravated character, and he would not suit Chicago Or the State of Conneetiout.
