The instructions received has been a source of benefit to our teachers, who have learned bow t< impart knowledge more clrar and pointed. Miss Msrj L. She has left a lasting impression upon every one who chanced u fall in contact with her. I'ruf. Scott is pleasant in voice, but determined in action. He is always on time, one quality and essential that proves tht teacher. Our institute conductors have already . taught in four of the counties they go to 8partanburg and Laurens counties respectively. If the teachers of the counties fail to bt benefited from the able efforts put forth, lei them lay the blame upou their own shoulders. Our teachers association was organized with th? following roll of officers : fresh dent, C. H. Jones; Vice Presidents, J. D ' Norris, S. E KciJ, B. Foster. Secretary, B, J. We hope that the trustees in each school in our county wilt employ teachers, member! of the ussociation, as these teachers have had the latest methods of teaching taught them? both theoretical and practical. ? Slate law cou templates?prohibition or a dispensary. We admire the courage and nerve ant consistency cfthc Spartanburg and Lauroni people who have refused to accept a dispen eary. Let thein stick to their position ant enforce straight prohibition. No communit.! can afford to put itself in the position o being in league to violate a law, howevci bad it may be. Governor Tillman and som< of his heeltrs and agents have violated theii own l?w shamefully and ropentedly by fore ing dispensaries on communities where Hit majority of freehold voters opposed them but we can wait for the time nnd tht awakening of the public conscience anii sense of propriety to set all such thing! right ond puni?h all such offenders. Judok Lynch Holds Court in Adiikyillk . ?Greenwood, August 21.?This morning while Mr. William Monday, a respectable citizen of this community, was in towu, i vagaboud negro named Jake Davis assaulted ( Mrs. Monday, who is fifty years old, and would have accomplished his ticudish pur poso but for ihe uttack of a fierce yard dog which frightened him away, leaving his vie tun considerably bruised. A posse of cool yet determined men, both white and black, wcro soon scouring tin country for hiiu. and caught him at Ninety . Six this evening ubout 1 o'clock. Several colored women ei the place testified to his presence there abou the time the atsault was committed. There being no doubt of his guilt, he wa; quietly led to an open field near the house bound to the trunk of a tree and shot t< death. There was no mockery or taunting on tin part of the crow J. The opportunity wa: offered Davis to pray but he declined it. A more ordcily execution could not havi taken p'nee in a well drilled army.
