'We, the Grand respeefully beg leave to report that w ..cva pas sed on all the bills han4e us for gur consideration, and hi this, our general report would say that having examined the County offices at the former term of court, and having heard no complaint in reference to them, we have deemed it unnecessary to examine them at this toq of the coilrt, We have, by a committee of our body, visited the Poor -House, and find that the paupers Are properly cared for and the farm in good. con dition. We have also visited the County jail, and find the prisoners are well taken care of, and the jailer doing his duty. We would suggeat, that Qwig to the financial condition of our County, and the heavy taxes already imposed on our people, we deem it unwise at this time to recominoia4 the building of a new Court House, or the iugprove mont of the present one. We ha,e examined the books of the various Trial Justices, and find them satisfactory, correctly and neatly kept. We recommend that our Sen ator and ptentbers of the Legislature use their influence t4 layo an act passed, increasing the salaries of each of the Trial Justices to the following amounts: For the Trial Justices of Easley and Central Townships, each $125; Liberty and Fickens, each $75, Hur ricane, Dacusville, Pumpkintown and Eastatoe, paeh $40. Alio, an Act to require land owners to remove from their cultivated lands all dead timber standing within reach of the public roads. We would also call attention of the Representatives from this Couty to the fact that too many persoxis tro exempt from road duty, and we recommend that they use their influonce to have the Road Law amennded so that all men who are able to d( manual labor be re quired to d rad luyN, and we would ;.sc sugget that they cudeavor to buye an A t pat edl, whereby Super visors of Roads and Trustees of pub lie schools should have suiu remur ,uration for their ,wrvice , V flid tlt roi gross careless ness or int.tntion, on the part of con stables A.
