Wallace, PresI4ing Jadge We, the Grand y,respecully b4g leave to report that wMa, pas sed on all the bills hand@d us for .gur cons ideration, and in tWs, our general report would say tliat hnving examined the County offices at the former term of court, and having heard no complaint in reference to them, we have deemed it unnecessary to examine them at this tor of the cour, We have, by a committee of our body, visited the Poor House, and And that the paupers pre properly cared for and the farm in good- con dition. We have also visited the County jail, an:1 find the prisoners are well taken care of, and the jailer doing his duty. We would suggest, that wing to the financial condition of our County, and the heavy taxes already imposed on our people, we deem it unwise at this time to recomtnoiid the building of a new Court House, or the improve mont of the present one. We have examined the books of the ] various Trial Justices, and find them satisfactory, correctly and neatly kept. We recommend that our Son- i ator alinl nniberi of the Legislature use their influence to lin,vo an act passed, increasing the snlaries of each cf the Trial Justices to the following anotints: For the Trial Justices of Easley and Central Townships, each $125; t Liberty and Pickens, each $755 Hur- ( ricane, Dacusville, Pumpkintown and E'astatoe, paph $40. Also, an Act to require land owners to remove from their cultivated lands all dead timber standing within reach of the public roads. We would also call attention of the Representatives from this County to tho fact that too many personis are exempt from road duty, and we recommend that they use theip influence to have the Road Law nmtended so that all men who are able to do niiial labor be re 1uiredc to <i road d,ii, andIS we would i.so sugige,t that they endeavor to i,:ye au Act lpa)Iyed(, whereby Super visors, of Roads and Trustees of pub- al tic schools should have suni remu: 8 'Xoration for their rvIcebr We tiid ttmA f omra gross careless- 1 ness or intention, on the part, of con stables A.
