A Wonderful Pair of Twins. A pai of twins is no0w ont exhibi. tion at the Aquariumi, anid i.s attract ing mruch attention fromt phy~sicians and others. The two children are gir ls, and wete bornt on December' 28, 1877, at Sain .I3enoi., ai town about forty miles north of Mo'ntre~al, Canada. .From their heads to the first lumber ;vertebufe, t he children are possessed of periectly formed and entirely idistinct; members, but below that point the bodies become one. There is not th eslightest deformity about any of their organs. They have two distinct sets of internal or ganis and tour arms, but only one abdomen and tw o legs. Each child controls one set of organs, butt only one leg. Piercing one leg with a pin wvill produce signs of' pain inithe faice of one child, while the other will be pet fectly free from any sensation. They do not act i unison. While one laughs and plays the othter sleeps or Cries from hun,.er. Soinetimes they both sleep together, and when both are awake they have the~ great est desire to play wvitih each .others hands. Thme leat ures are very' regn - lar, and the. face of each child is very pretty~ for a baby only seveni months old. The limbs are as large as those of ant o dinarv child. HYDaoPurnoA.--We are - informed by a creditable source that Wim. L. Waldrop, residing near Cross Anchor, somp time ago submitted sores upon his leg to b.e licked by his dog, wbo a. day or so before, had a fight with other dogs in the neighborhood. The dogs ihave not, it seems, given any evi dence of hydrophobia, and yet the unfortunate man is. reported to be suffering with the riost t'rrible case of hydrophobia. It does seem that our very faithful Watch dogs are now most to be dreaded of all animals. Our people . who keep dogs should practice the greatest care and watch. fulness with them, and they should positively not be permitted to run at large.-Spoights' Daily Newspaper. "A Democratic Congress will vote to pay the South for all their slaves that the war set free," says a fire eat ing Republican newspaper published in New England. "No Democratic Congress will ever do anything of the kind; and if it were done forty timies a day for forty years it would not bring a cent out of the treasury, or put a cent in the pocket of any man. Three-fourths of all the States must unite with Congress and the Execu tive before this scarecrow can be vi talizeod. Is there a man outside of' an idiot asylum who can be influenced by such bosh as that? Instond of rusbing home to his en. thusiastic constituents imminediately after the adjournment of Congress, the Hon. John J. Patterson Hecks a region ntot so open to climatic and other objections. He is shcelwred within the protecting bosom of Penn sylvania nowv, and roams at large just the same as any United States Sern' ator; but he dosen't appear to be car-: rying out his "five years' good steal,. ing" programme with so much enthu siasmn as formerly. Somebody must have interrupted him in that noble la bor.. A Portland,[paper gives this as a proof of the sforte of imagination: "The owner of a standard thermomn eter, on Exchange street, etherized the mercury to day, reducing it to temperate. Men came along pers piring at every pore, with fans spread and umbrellas, and when they saw the indications, lowered the umbrellas, folded their fans, and remarked how quickly they felt, the sea breeze.'" In Maine a man got too much of the ardent aboard, and was put into a coffin to sleep off the liquor. When he awoke he sprang out in hot haste, exclaiming, "Glory I The resurrection morn has come, and I'm the first man on the ground."-Boston Post. Pay your subscription.
