A heavy in pl on Sunday evening and 6unday night last. The ittans overflowed their banks, bit no serious darodgo was done. 1- ltoney! money! is the cry all over lhe County. Everybody is troubled abput it but us. We are not troubled With it at all. We notice in some sections that the -fall sown oats have been killed out by the hard winter. Tho ground should have been re-sown in Febru ary.: etMITTED.-Dr. L. C. Neal, of Vickensville, was committed to the jail of this Connty last Saturday, by Trial Justice Taylor, lin default of bail, pq; the charge of obtaining money un der false pretenses, ACOIDENT.-We regret to learn that Miss fallie Nix, daughter of M~r. J. 4. Nix of the Easloy Hotel, met with the misfortune last week, of having -er knee cap dislocated and the knee joint otherwise seriously damaged, by 4 horse running away with a spring wagon, in which she was riding. Edmcpd Rogers, colored, on the 15th instant, went to COntral Station in this County, and drank whiskey in a bar-room until he became very dunk. He was carried home by his friends in the evening, and about 12 o'clock in the night, died, it is suppos ed, from the effects of the whiskey. His fate should be a warning to others If those who have been read ing our paper for years w-ithout paying us a cent for it, will only come for ward like mon and ask us to make them a presunt of the subscription, we will d o so. We notice our farmers are going to use 'a good deal of guano algain this year, but we do not think they arc going to use as much as they did lastL year. This is encouraging, and if they Would quit cotton altogether there would be no necessity for any guano, and the County would bc much bet INFoRMATION WANTEn. -Mr. Thlos. J. Said boy is small to his ago, itathier black hair', black eves and sal, l'ow complexion. Any one knowing anything concerning the whereabouts of the said boy, wvill greatly oblige his distressed father by addressing htim at Pickens C. HL S. U. . OLD DAsI.-We have received a few "dots" from "Old Dash," but who he is, is the question. Woe know him not. He may be a closer fellow of good intentions, but certainly has but little experience in the newspaper bflsiness, or he would not write ari. anonymous communication for p)ub-. klIjention. The communication would havo been published had theo real name of "Old Dash," accompanied it, and if it had been free from person~al reflections. "Old Dash,'' or any o ther "Dlash" is respectfully informed that for the purpose of securing considera tion for their communications the real name must accompany it; not for pub 164ion, but as a guarantee of good faith on their part, and as a protec t on to the proprietors. This is the invariable rule of our office, and we thobght the paublic had become aware oi it before this. "Old Dlash" went in the waste basket to s:oop. FARMERs BUYING CORN.--We no tiee some of our fatrmors buying corn, who would have corn to sell if they would only plant less cotton. No dbizbt they have, in many instances to-g0 inidebt for it, and pay a heavy interest. 'The cotton money is all spenrt for household necessaries and inih(f1ng Ch&ttnanfo LIll of' last year.
