L Harbin on Saturday, Maroh 24th, iu ar Mono church, on the Rochester farm, over the doad body of Plounoy Cherry, colored, aged seventeen years. The evi dence showed that she came in a few -days beforo from Ooorgia and stopped with a negro in a cabin, wh'oh was dis covered on lire late in tho evening. It was forced open and the Are extin guished. A jury was empannoled and an inquest held, tho jury rendering the following -verdict: We find that deceased, Flounoy Cherry, oamo to her death by mischance or accident, resulting from burns re ceived on the 23d iustant. J. Balo Whit ten, foreman. Dr. E. A. Hines conducted tho post mortem examination. The Coroner had to arrange for the interment of body, as she had no means, and no relatives or friends. To tbe Patrons of the Walhalla Graded School : At a recent meeting of our board au incidental fee of ten 09uts was author ised to be charged each pupil to pay, in part, the incidental expeuses of the school-chalk, ink, fuel, jain tor hire, etc. The superintendent was Instructed to col lect the same and report at the next meet ing of the board. At a special meeting th? superintendent reported that a few fat rons had not yet paid and auk ed for urtber instructions. He was direotod by us to extend tbe time four days and allow the privil?ges of the school only to those who complied with the rule of tho board before the expiration of the four days above mentioned. We believed that the patrons would respond to the call for this small amount at a time when the school was passing throuRu a orisiR, on aooouul of the voting out of the oounty dispensary. Our sole purpose was to decrease as much as possible the debt of our district, the sum of one thousand dollars having been borrowed to maintain the school four months after the public money was exhausted. 8. On March 10th God, in His wisdom and mercy, ?aw flt to call to rest his be loved child, Mrs. Levannah Gibson, after a lingering illness of consumption. Mrs. Gibson was the daughter of the lute C. B. and Nancy Sui li van. She was born and reared near where she died-Cross Hoads. In 1800 she was married to E. A. Gibson, of this county. While young she gave her heart to God, and following ber re ligious convictions, connected herself witt r.he Beaverdam Baptist ohuroh at Fair I'la;, of whioh she was ever after wards a consistent member, following al ways, as best she could, the straight and narrow path. She was a true, loving and tender wife, a devoted and self-sacrific ing mother, discharging her duty to each a like, with a sweet, gentle obedlenco, with the assurance of a Father's pre cious promise to his fat hf ul children, "Well doue, thou good and faithful ser vant, enter thou ?tito the kingdom of heaven." She leavos a husband and Ave children, (a babe just two weeks old,) three sisters and two brothers-Mrs. J. H. Herring, Mrs. H. II. Glymph, Mrs. W. R. Ables, J. C. Sullivan, M. V. Sullivan, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss aud cherish ber memory. Tho funeral services wore conducted by Rev. .lames Mason from the Baptist church at Cioss Roads on March 18th. Sho was a noble good woman, and our loss is heaven's gain. Sho loaves a lov ing husband and fivo donr children. Surviving her also aro a mothor, a sister and ono brother.
