There seems to bo a universal increase in the growth of humanity. The height, the chest measurement and the weight of the soldiers of thc im mense armies of Europe of the present time arc at least as great us they were among thc picked men of the much smaller Euro pean armies of fifty years past, clearly showing that the average man ol to day is as big and as strong as thc picked up man of long ago. Thc fact stares us in the face that tho grown up sons and daughters of thc old people of this country are, as a rule, bigger and stronger than their fathers and mothers were. An ordinary sized Englishman finds considerable difliculty in sqeczing himself into the armor of one ol' thc Norman conquerors of this country, but what could one of our Western farmers do with it? Certainly he could pick it up and look at it, but that is all. Wc have great respect for the memory of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, as well as for our grandmothers and great grandmothers, but we cannot af ford to delude ourselves witludeas and notions that facts and figures sot asido.
