Jones, formerly Miss Liz zie Goggans, died at her home at Clin ton, Laurens County, the 14th instant of brain fever. "Leaves have their time to fall. And flowers to wither at the North winds breath, And stars to set, but ali, Thou hast all seasons for thine own1 .oh DIED, on Friday last, the 24th of December, 1880, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Sligh, wife of Geo. A. Sligh. na Beth Eden Church, in the 59th year of her ace. In the enjoyment of her usual health. pursuing her~usual round of dlomestie duties, she was stricKen down wituout warning or one word of pairting love to her sorrowing family. 'Tis hard to part with loved ones thus suddenly. but "God moves in a mysterious way" and we accept the affietive blow meek ly and in resignation, in the full assu rance that "our loss is ber eternal gain." The deceased was no ordinary woman -"none knew her but to love, none riamed her but to praise"; and now that her place is made vacant, her nany virtues and excellencies of head and heart shine with brighter luster than before. She was a consistent, active and zealous member of Beth Eden Church, and omitted no occasion of its service when able to attend-truly did sbe adorn the walks of a Christian profession, no one followed the meek and lowly Naza rene with more humility and devoted love, and no opportunity was ever allow ed to pass without speaking a word of counsel and admonition to family or friends. In all respects hers was a beautiful abaracter-as a wife she was devoted and tender, as. a mother her heart overflowed with love, as a friend and neighbor she was ever ready with sympathy and timely relief, and many now wveep that the kind friend who was constant in her ministration has been removed from her sphere of usefulness; God's will be done. Hers too was a life of self sacrifice and charity, she loved to labor and to give, the sick always found her ready, the poor were never denied. What more can we say ex cept that we loved her with no ordi nary love-and that from a sorrowing heart do we extend our sympathies to the bereaved husband and children; may this affliction work out for them a~ "far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."
