There are plenty of men, clever fel Lows who would make good husbands, but who are deterred from taking that important step because'they think it will cost more to keep a wife than to fight out the battle on the single line. Many good girls are thus cheated of the opportunity to shdtr what they can do. Our advice has always been, never to think of double expense, it is a myth, when both parties appreciate the situa tion. If it were summer time we should not question the right to get shut of the old goat, but to turn the animal out to grass when there is none is un kind, and comports not with their claim as a charitable body. We say it is a great shame, the goat is entitled to comfortable quarters, at least until spring-time grass begins to grow, and we solemnly appeal to Grand Master Hoyt, of Anderson, who we have rea son to believe will not sanction any thing so unmasonic. Some of the members of the mystic brotherhood try to excuse the act by saying that the goat woulV' not rear up at both ends when required, nor could it butt the candidate with its former vigor while slipping down the greasy pole, but that does not alter case. Again it is affirm ed that the goat is entitled to better reatment, and the case shall be carried o the Grand Lodge of the United States uless the animal be taken in and cared for. Immediately after the interesting ceremony of Installation hus made public was over, members ad friends mingled together, and what with the cracking of jokes and nuts, eat ing of oranges, apples, candy and other nice things, a very enjoyable time was ad. It may not be amiss to say that the Sons are addicted to the habit of treating their friends, and take great pleasure in doing so. After indulging for awhile in the above enjoyable and refreshing pastime, the audience were gated to a minstrel entertainment, gotten up by the members who boast of aving music in their souls. The mu si, songs and jokes were very good, and when it is considered that their practice has been limited, it is a won der they did so well.
