TIE GREENVILLE AND COLU-MBIA RAIL RoAn.-The Greenville En terprise learns through a reliable source, that the Rail Road Com pany has received a proposition from Northern contractors, offer in g to construct a line of telegraph along the rail road from Green ville to Columbia, (and-we suppose along the branches, also,) for $16, 000, which is now under conside ration. If the offer be accepted, with anything ;hke proper force, the telegraph can be completed in two months. The rail road bed is now undergoing repairs, upon the completion of which the schedule, requiring less time to run from Greenvi!le to Columbia, will be published. Mr. Isaac Stevens, who comes from New Haven, Connec- I ticat, has been appointed agent of! the Company depot in Greenville, and superceded Mr. John McKay on the first instant. The new incumbent has had considerable experience on rail roads, having been connected with them for near1 twenty yetrs at the North. He will also act as a general ticket for the whole road.-Phentx. Grant, they received a rousing welcome, and1 that after they had, filatiy told the assembled citizensi that their mission was to suppress polygamy, there were great re joicings, including bonfires, fire works, a parade and an illumina tion of the citv. All this shows that the Gentiles are getting to be a powerful party at the Mormon capital, or that the saints have had a new revelation. It does not ap pear that Brigham Toung took any part in the proceedings,~ but he will have to define his position very soon. We should not wonder if he, too, in due season, should disclose a new revelation, instruct ing him to depart with his people ant of Egypt ; and this will prob ably be the settlement of the ~Mormon question. Srum "Goo."-It may seem supris ing, but is nevertheless true, that a few people in this section, and probably else. where, have not yet given up hope of realizing something for "Confed" money left on their hands at the surrender. During the past few weeks several par ties have come into town with their pockets stuffed with this once all impor tant paper, expecting to dispose of it, and have consequently made themselves the butt of the fun loving about the streets. A few days since a remarkably green specimen made his appearance with considerable quantity "on hand," and showed wonderful pedestrian pow ers, as he was successidvely referred from one store to another. Having made the; whole circuit of town, he left, it is to be hoped, a. wiscr man.-Tarboro South erner. The Sumter News say-s: "The sun.flower is very useful for many purposes.
