Koeonecke, Sr., residing ,t Oolumbia, conductor of a Seaboard iir Line switching crew, working in he Cayce yards, across the Congaree rom Columbia, was run over by a Dcomotive Friday night ard so badly mrt that he died in a hospital five iour9 later. Mr. Koernecke was found iy the crew of an incoming freight rain, lying on a track, unconscious, pith both legs crushed below the :nee, bruised about the body in several ilaces and with a wound in his scalp. No one could be found that night pho could sav iust how the accident ccurred. The presumption advanced ?y fellow-employees was that Mr. koennecke, in avoiding one locomcive, stepped in the path of another.
