Seven men were reported killed in a labor riot at Galloway's mill, three mile3 from Deridder, in Calca9iea parish, La., according to a message reeeived Tuesday night by Governor Hall. N. J. Gorham, Cashier Bank of Woodville, Woodville, Ga., had a very severe attack of kidney trouble and the pains in his kidneys and back were terrible. Crum of this city, who runs a farm a few miles from the city had the misfortune to loose a fine horse and mule by lightning. Five minutes after eating a small saucer of icecream, Miss Sallie Owens, of Greenville, died in violent fit of coughing. Coroner Batson, aided by physicians,investigated the young woman's death, and it was the expressed opinion that death resulted from hemorrhage caused by sudden contact of a cold substance with the girl's overheated system as she had been working in the kitchen for several hours previous to partaking of the dish. ? ^ t What Makes A Woman? Montreal, July 11.?Ninety-five funerals were held here today, and the majority of those buried were victims of the recent hot spell, Eighty of the dead were children. The demand for hearses was so pressing that many of the bodies had to be taken to the graveyards in cabs. A horse attached to a hearse fell dead in one of the funeral processions. Simpson, a life member of the Clem9on board of trustees, died at a sanitarium in Atlanta on Thursday morning at 4 o'clock. Col. Simpson had been in failing health for some months and was operated on recently, in Charlotte, N. C., from which place he returned to Clemson, where he has three daughters. He was taken to Atlanta last week for treatment. Col. Simpson was born in September, 1840. At Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Thibedeau, eighteen years of age was drowned when his parachute, cut adrift 1,000 feet in the air, descended in Fairmount reservoir. Thousands saw the boy make hi9 drop into the reservoir. A boat put out to where the parachute floated. Thibedeau, however, leaped from the trapeze and sank. Sixteen Bathers Drowned Sixteen persons who were spending the week-end at lakes at St. Paul, Minn., were drowned while bathing. C. was riding early Thursday morning at Fort Screven, Private Robert S. O'Connell, the company clerk, alone in his office, placed a 38-calibre Colts army revolver under his chin and pulled the trigger. The bullet went entirely through his head and lodged in the ceiling.
