Nothing but words of praise for Spartanburg and its hospitable people have we heard from any of the old soldiers who visited the reunion in that city last week. It is said that such a reception has never been given the men who wore the grey since these reunions have been in vogue. Spartanburg is a great city, and no better adnnnld it have than the fact 8tractive by stating his reasons for~bis By all means arrange to go to'wme good fair this fall and n9e it as a means of obtaining more informa/ ' tion. Notice, School Patrons. As nsnal The Bazaar -will be headquarters for school books. Parents are reminded that we handle these books strictly FOR CASH, as they are sent us for distribution. In no Instance will books be sold except for the cash. Old books bought and sold, and exchanged for new books. V-" : ... * Mimnaugh Buying Goods. Mr. John L. Mimnangh, the well known Columbia Department Store merchant, is on his semi-annual buying trip to the great bargain centres of the north. Mr. Mimnaugh always buys his own goods and with his unlimited amount of ready cash, he scoops in every bargain that is offered. He is one of the closest buyers in the United States and hi9 store is one of the largest in the 90uth. The new goods are already arriving at the Mimnaugh store and, as usual, Mimnaugh's will be in the lead.. At the same time, don't fail to buy some goods he is offering at extraordinarily low prices in order to have room. An Easy Business The easiest business in this world is dry-goods; the reason is: customers want the stuff as much as they want aoii if,* t.hov come-in: look at the VV OV4? ?) ?-wy goods and bny. That's the whole business. Devoe comes next. It saves money, and people like money. They like somebody else's more than their own; they like to make it more than to save it; they like tj keep it perhaps as well as to make it. Buildings run-down fast, without paint ; poor paint is the sams. Devoe is the means of stopping that leak; a big one. All we've got to do, to sell Devoe, is to 9how that a man saves money by using it. ? ^ - J Li. I E D Jewell, Corry, .Fa, pamiea ms house 5 years ago with a mixed paint; 14 gallons. La9t spring he painted Devoe; 10 gallons. Saved $15 to $20. The Kaufmanc Drug Co. 17 Lexington County Union Will hol<l it's 3rd quarterly meeting the second Saturday in Sept 10th, 1910. It was the editor's priviledge to visit the new pavillion at Ridge wood, in Columbia, a few days ago, This is one of the most up-to-date places of amusement in the city, and is attracting large crowds of people, Boatriding, bathing, skating, dancing, etc. The pavillion is not yet completed, hnt will be in a few days, This is an ideal place to spend a few honrs in I recreation, The car ride to Ridgewood is also an enjoyable feature, I Attend The Fairs. Now is the time to begin planning I to attend the fairs this fall. A trip to the State Fair, or to some other large fair nearer home, is usually well worth the expense of time and money. If I the farmer goes for education or to learn he will never fail to feel repaid, I * but if he goes merely for entertaini ment or amusement the time and money will be largely wasted. Better amusements can be found nearer home at less expense. But the fair properly studied 9hoiild be a source of instruc- I tion. Too frequently the managers of \ our Southern fairs lose sight of the educational features and go to extremes in supplying, in many cases, none too clean amusements. More of an educational feature should be made of the judging of agricultural exhibits and the live stock. A good ; jndge may make his work highly^ in ANNUAL REPORT \ ?OF? E. L.
