Roof, at Arthurs, there wa9 a happy gathering on the 30th of May, the occasion being the celebration of hi9 72nd birthday. There were present five children, twenty-nine grand children, ? four great grand children, besides a number of friends. One of the children, five grand children and three great grand children absent. Every , one came with well-filled baskets and gave him a surprise picnic. The contents of the baskets were spread on a long table beneath the shade trees in the yard, and was enjoyed by all. Mr. Roof seemed as jolly as any of the boys, and enjoyed the occasion to the fullest extent. One Who Was Present. She was first married to Calvin Long, and af ter his death to Malachia Kyzer. She had 8 children, 43 grand children and 10 great grand children. She was baptized in infancy and at her death was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran church.
