Chester, January ?Special: Hernton Chalk, a colored well-digger, was buried by a cave-in while digging a well on Mr. Geo W. Bvers's place at Wilksburg Friday morning, and a companion, Wallace Brown, wae also partly buried in the debris, but was rescued without serious hurt. The two men had dug down for a distance of twenty-five feet through earth, when they struck soft rock which made blasting necessary. This, it is supposed, is what caused the cave-in. Chalk had his neck and jaw broken, and is required three hours of digging to bring his body out of ruins. Brown was on the opposite side ef the well, and was only partially covered. w * ?i?1_ m o W asnmgxon b na^ue spots lie in the low, marshy bottoms, of the Potomac, the breeding ground of malaria germs. A Common Cold. w i We claim that if catching cold could be ayoided some of the most dangerous and fatal diseases would never be heard of. A cold often forms a culture bed for germs of infectious diseases. Consump- j tion, pneumonia, diphtheria and scarlet | fever, four of the most dangerous and j fatal diseases, are of this class. The | culture bed formed by the cold favors I the development of the germs of the*-e j diseases, that would not otherwise find ! lodgment There is little danger, how- j ever, of any of these diseases being con- j tracted when a good expectorant cough ; medicine like Chamberlain's Cough j Remedy is used. It cleans out these i culture beds that favor the develop- j ment of the germs of these diseases, j That is why this remedy has proved so j universally successful in preventing j pneumonia. It not only cures your ; cold quickly, but minimizes the risk of j contracting these dangerous diseases, j For sale by Kaufmann Drug Co. * | Would Stop Papers From Using Names. \ Senator Kelley of Lee county has j introduced a bill that will occasion j some comment.
