To the Editor of The Dispatch: Cotton is being rapiaty gathered in this section. On account of the dry weather a few months ago the crop will be very short. But if the farmo r\Aivnr? rr\7* I vio V/Vuiu OCUU1C u a ^uunv* their cotton the short crop would not be felt so much. Mrs. T. M. Kennedy, of New Brookland, spent a few days in the Pond Branch section last week. We can very well judge a man's occupation by his conversation. If he is a farmer he talks about his farm; if he is a dairyman he speaks of his cows and if he is a big huater he i9 in favor of the fox law. Now, Mr. Editor, is it right for the poor hard working countrymen to stand, not only in the night, Out in broad daylight, and see the fox destroying their chickens, turkeys and geese, and thus be dared to kill the fox for fear of having to suffer the penalty of the law? No; I say it is not right to submit to such a law just to please the big fox-hunters. It is true that the minks destroy some poultry in t some sections, but not so in every case. I trust that, our Representa| lives who have jusc been ejected, will j investigate the matter, and have the i law repealed. E. S. C. Gilbert, Sept. 23.
