Kaufmann Drug Co., Distributors. J \ The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, August 19,1908. STATE REUNION COMES TO CLOSE. Annual Parade Held in the AfternoonChester Next Meeting Place. Greenville, Aug. 13.?Today, with the warm Southern sun shining upon their devoted heads, the remnant of the men who followed Lee and Jackson and Hampton and Butler, and the other chieftains who led the finest body of soldiers the world has known, marched down Main street to the in spiration of martial airs. People gathered on both sides the street to cheer and wave handkerchiefs at the men on whose heads the snow that never melts has fallen. There were not a few who had to march on one leg, and many there were who waved empty sleeves, but they had the same fire and were animated by the same spirit of patriotism that caused them in 1861 to don the gray and to march to defend their homes" and fireeides. They come now, not as when they hurried thither at the call of the chief executive and the command of the legislative body of their commonwealth to enroll themselves for the march, the trenches, the conflict of battle, the horrors if need be of wastiner disease and drearv imprisonment inthe enemy's country, of the night watch, the charge and the death stroke. But they are here with kindred purpose, to renew friendships as warm and true as when these gray heads wore the raven locks of youth, and ambition warmed their young hearts to deeds of valor which the trump of fame has blazoned around the world. To many, perhaps to most men now, the war has become a dream. A whole generation has come and gone, as men count it, since the day wThen after enduring more than mortal army ev r underwent before, the morning at Appomattox came.
