Amick and RidgeII are elected to the House; Edwards and Wingard run over. Crosson is elected senator; Shealy and George run oyer for clerk; Wingard and Malpass are in the sec. ond race for treasurer; Koon and Langfordfor supervisor; Caughman, Craps, Sawyer and S. Rufus Smith for county commissioner; Farr is elected superintendent of education as is Clark for coroner. We have included Pine Ridge and Peak in our tabulation, but these boxes did not come in and a committee was appointed to meet again on Monday next to finish the tabulation. Thi* nfchflr fioriirnfl arA official. w- ?0?_w fuau Silled by Lightning. Salads, Aug. 22.?Daring a rainstorm tate yesterday afternoon which was accompanied by much lightning, Mr. S. H. Quarlea, a well-to -do farmer living hear Johnston, was struck by lightning and instantly killed. Mr. Quarrels and his son were taking up fodder when the rain came on ana sought refuge |n his barn. Soon after entering the building a bolt of lightning came tearing through the roof and, striking Mr. Quarles, produced instant death.. His son, althoug within a few feet of him, was not hurt. Woodmen of the World of New Bropkland camp, joined by Woodmen of the World camps of Columbia, unveiled the monument erected to the memory of Sovereign W. D. Shull at St. David's Lutheran church on last Sunday evening. Although the weather was very unfavorable there were a goodly number of friends of the deceased present. Mr. Aug. M. The first bale of new cotton in this County, so far as we have been able to ascertain, was sold in Swansea on Monday. The bale brought in by Joe Boozer, a colored farmer on the plantation of D. J. Kurth, and was bougth by Reynolds & Croft for 9% cents. Banh Cashier Sills Himself. Alonzo Walters, aged 55 years, ca9h- 1 ier of the Bank of Ellaville, at Ellaville, Ga., committed suicide in a hotel at Americus, Ga., by shooting himself with a pistol.
