To the Editor of The Dispatch: The past week has been ideal and the farmers have made gooc time in cultivating their crops. Gaston and Swansea base ball teams crossed bats recently in a spirited game which resulted in a victory for the latter. J. H. Price has purchased a lot in Gaston. I presume he anticipates erecting a dwelling on same some time in the future. Sunday school here the second Sunday at 10 o'clock. Preaching at 11 o'clock by Leroy Lucas and it five o'clock in the afternoon by T. J. Cupstid. C. H. Hartley is now express agent here. We still need a telegraph office and hope to have one in the future. We are glad to report at this writing that Ga W. Sightler i9 some what improved, still he is in a precarious condition. J. A. Roberts and S. J. Rice killed a monster snake a few days ago. It was a species of the big rattler family. The carriers here have been serving extremely well of late and especially number one. He has been the recipient of many edibles, such as plums, cherries, apples, peaches, beans, cabbage, etc. They come from young maids, old maids, widows and widowers, young girls and even from the pretty seven sisters, all of which we are grateful. The happy Felix family return thanks for same. A new patron has arrived on route one and is bearding at the home of M. L. Rister. Shte will receive her mail in the name of Gladys Mae. Friend Lee is more jovial than when cotton took a rise recently. It seems a foregone conclusion that Bryan and Taft will be the presidential nominees of their respective par ties. Postoffice Inspector Sam W. Kingsmore was here recently and did some i clever work for Uncle Sam. Assisted j by Postmaster Hartley he captured a j negro who had mutilated a mail box on route three and landed him behind prison bars. He then proceeded to attend to another negro, for using cancelled stamps. What Mr. Kingsmore did for him was a plenty, and the negro will scarcely want to see a live stamp now, much > more a dead one. Boys don't violate Uncle Sam's rales or Mr. Kingsmore will get you sure.
