Fort Worth, Texas, Dec. 19.?E. C. Joy, the new husband pf Jessie Busley, leading lady of "In the Bishop's Carriage'' company, fired a shot at Han^Elmer, advance agent of the "Peggy From Paris" company, at the stage entrance of the opera house here". Joy's jealousy of Elmer, whom he accused of seeking to win Miss Busley's affections, caused the shooting. Just before the rise of the curtain a carriage containing Joy and his wife was driven to the front entrance of the opera house,, Joy entering the house. Immediately after Elmer entered the carriage and was driven with Joy's wife to the stage door, where h%r husband stood waiting for heir. Seeing Elmer with his wife, Joy drew a.revolver and fired, the bullet just missing Elmer's head. The police placed both under arrt ^t. Mrs. Joy appeared before a crowded house without displaying the least nervousness. Joy married Miss Bu9ley about six weeks ago. He is a newspaper man. 1? Beware oi Frequent Colds. A house on the public square refused to burn on Tuesday, although ifcwasiaade of pine and was subjected to the heat of roaring flames. The paint on it, inside and out, .protected it. The exhibit was given by the Gibraltar Paint and Roofing coxhpany of Charleston, under the direction of Mr. T. A. Gpuld, president of the ^ company. The point of the exhibit was the protecting power of the Gibraltar paint-against fire; and the demonstration seemed to be entirely successful. A small bouse constructed of portions of dry goods boxes was painted inside and out with the paint; then piles of excelsior and other cbmbustibles were put jn and on and around it, saturated with kerosene and set on fire. At the end of twenty minutes . the hose was turned on, and when the debris was removed it was found that the house bad not been injured at all by -the fire.
