Young Wife of a Wood Worker Becomes Deranged and Strangles Her 4/* Hnn4h ThinLrinn Qho U/OC Daises IU ucaill, I lillimny WIIV * uu_ Putting Them to Sleep. Baltimore, Md.?The murder of her two babies by an insane mother thrilled Baltimore last week. Madness, which has twice caused her to be confined to an asylum, again took possession of Mrs. Christine Nenadal, aged 26 years, the wife of Joseph Nenadal, a woodworker employed in a wagon factory. With the cunning of mind deranged she laid her plans to put her little ones to sleep?for that is what she believes she has done? and no more. Leaving her little daughter, Mary, aged between two and three years, playing in the street, she put the younger of her children, a year and three months old, in its carriage and took it to a nearby park, i When the mother returned to the litj tie one in the carriage was covered ' with leaves and small branches, but a neighbor noticed that its face was strangely pale. Mrs. Nenadal took both children into the house and carefully closed all the doors and windows. A little later she went for a friend, Mrs. Victoria Vala, and asked her to come and assist in dressing the children. Returning the two women entered the dining room of the Nenadal home and there, lying upon the table, Mrs. Vala was horrified to find the naked bodies of the two children, both of them having been strangled by their mother. The latter, when the police were summoned, fondled the little bodies and gave them up only when forced to do so. Her one concern now seems to be lest the | children be awakened. She repeatedly asks to have them brought to her so that she may guard their slumbers. Mrs. Nenadal was recently taken from an asylum by her husband against the protests of the physicians in charge. We Guarantee Satisfaction. J. A. Brogdon, of the National Sign Co., Dayton, O., writes under date of Oct. 12,1906: "Nosena is the only preparation I have ever used that relieves my affection so speedily and pleasantly. Of Zatwut to Woaon. xx. wjuoqwuo v*u iiwuigo to?j won without scales if she will follow this simple plan: One ordinary teacupfnl of floor makes 4 ounces, so 4 teacupfuls make 1 pound. Sugar is heavier, so do not take a full cup of it to make 4 ounces. Shredded suet is so light thatateacupful weighs only 2 ounces. With a very little experience you will j measure ingredients quite accurately in this way. Have you tried making tea like this? Among the various ways in which tea can be brewed, an authority recommends the following: Moisten an ounce of tea, finely ground, with cold water, and let it stand for twenty minutes. Then pour on the' tea a scant pint of boiling water, and in one minute it is ready to drink. An obedient husband, not very far from Boston, was objecting not long ago to doing certain work about the household, and quoted scripture texts to his wife showing that the household duties should properly be assigned to the woman. The good wife had been trained in the Ladies' Auxiliary of our Young Men's Christian k Association, and quickly replied by reading to her astonished liege 2nd. Kings xxi., 13, "I will wipe out Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down." That husband, without a murmer, . has wined the dishes ever since. Not one in a thousand of those who sing that good old hymn, "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" knows the his' tory of its homely origin. According to the Church Ecletic, it was written by the Rev. John Faw- | I ! I f cett, who in the latter part of the j eighteenth century was the pastor of a poor little church in Lockshire England. His family and responsibilities were large, his salary was less than $4 a week. In 1772 he felt himself obliged to accept a call to a London church. His farewell sermon had been preached, six wagons loaded with furniture and books stood by the door. His congregation, men, women, and children, were in an agony of tears. ? Mr. Fawcett and his wife sat down on a packing case and cried with the others. Looking up, Mrs. Fawcett said: "Oh, John, John, I cannot bear this! I know not where to go!" "Nor I either," said he; "nor will we go. Unload the wagons and put everything back in its old place." His letter of acceptance to the London church was recalled and he wrote this hymn to commemorate the episode. The Limit of Life, The most eminent medical scientists are unanimous in the conclusion that the generally accepted limitation of human life is many years below the attainment possible with the advanced knowledge of which the race is now possessed. The critical period, that determines its duration, seems to be between 50 and 60; the proper care of the body during this decade cannot be too strongly urged; carelessness the being fatal to longevity. Nature's best helper after 50 is Electric Bitters, the scientific tonic medicine that revitalizes every organ of the body. Wingfield, aged 35, today shot and killed his wife, aged 25, and committed suicide by her dead body in the Wingfield home in northwest Roanoke. Wingfield left a note dated today, in which he said he would kill liis wife and himself, giving as his reason for the act the fact that another man had invaded his home. The couple quarreled on a back porch and after going into the dining room Wingfield fired two shots through his wife's brain. He picked up the dead body and carried it to a bed room where he placed it on a bed. Standing over the body of the woman, Wingfield cut his throat, the knife with which he severed his jugular vein dropping on the cheek of the wife. Wingfield fell to the floor and died instantly. | The Wingflelds came here a week I ago from Hagerstown, Md. Wingfield I v 3 i 1_ i.L.
