Darlington, April 3.?The first bonfire of contraband liquor in Darlington county took place here yesterday on the square at the we9t end of the court house, under the supervision of Sheriff J. C. Blackwell and his deputy, Mr. W. H. Mozingo. It wa9 indeed a very novel sight and created quite a sensation. Thirty-six gallons in pint and half pint bottles, the contents of two sugar barrels addressed to J. T. Stoten (an assumed name), was seized by Sheriff Blackwell on March 2. The law requires that such seizure must be held for one month. The time expiring, the barrels were removed from the sheriff's office in the court house, a hole about four feet square and four I fQof.
