Wednesday, January 30,1907. i Why Wall Street ! Attacks Nevada Mines. i Wall Street has conducted a cam| paign of vilification and slander dur> ing the last month against the goldi fields of Nevada. In this campaign [ it has enlisted the services of all the 1 publications at its command, includ? ing the cheap weekly magazines and that portion of the daily press that | always is for sale for any purpose. A horde of4 'almost" mining experts i was sent out to Goldfield to belittle the camp and lie about its production. 1 Some of them actually got as far as Goldfield and spent a whole day "investigating." None of them ever had seen a mine before and none of them went down in any of the big mines, especially not on an3r of the leases that ! are producing fortunes daily, because one reporter would occupy, on the i HayesMonnette lease, the room of $500 worth of ore for the leasers when it ' was brought to the surface. Anyway, ' i Goldfield was too busy producing for' | tune9 to pay any attention to these j "near investigators." 1 j Any wise mining investor who read ' * the drivel that these chaps wrote could readily recognize that they did , | not know any more about mining than , i a woodchuck does about the gates of . | heaven. I The secret of the attacks made by Wall Street district lies in the fact that the interest and dividend disbursements for this month amount to $180,000,000. Wall Street interests re| quire that this sum should be returned j immediately to their control, either j through investment in Wall Street banks. There is no philanthropy about Wall Street, and none behind Wall Street exists by handling the money of the i general public and the}* do not want ! any of it deflected to the Nevada | mines. There is no desire on their j part to protect the public, but they j nope uy a eampeugu uj. I abuse to scare the general public into returning the money to the banks that bear the Wall Street stamp. They are interested only in grabbing back from the people the money that has to be paid out in dividends and interest. Wall Street is recognizing that the general public is losing faiih in Wall Street methods and Wall Street forms ' of manipulation. As a result of that, 'thousands of people are putting money into good mines of Nevada, and the good mines of Nevada are giving splendid returns for the investiment Goldfield's answer to these slanders is an increase in the gold production, and the camp is now turning out yellow metal at the rate of $42,000,000 a year. The Goldfleld district is only in its infancy, but will be as great if not greater than the Comstock.?Journal of Finance. How to Avoidlpneumonia. The old and cheap way is called air - rnrpi-1 the later discovery and im proved way is called flue cured. In flue curing the tobacco is taken from the fields and racked in barns especially built to retain heat and there subjected to a continuous high temperature, produced by the direct heat of flame heated flues, which brings out in the tobacco that stimulating taste and aroma that expert roasting develops in green coffee. These similar processes give to both tobacco and coffee the cheering and stimulating quality that popularizes their use.
