THE LEXIM8T0N DISPATCH. Wednesday, March 7, 1906. Sots from Half-Way Hollow. Barbara Ellen Clark was borned September 6 h, 1S58, and died after s few weeks illness February 20th, 1905, making her earthly life 47 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was happily married April 12th, 1881, to Mr. George Calhoun Clark, to them eight children was borned, all of whom, with a husband, still lives to sorrow for her. Beside these ber father, mother, a sister and brother with a large oircls of friends to monrn her loss. She was a good mother, a faithful wife, a true friend, and knew Jesus as a personal Savour. Her last testimony was of Jesus' loving, saving grace. The above death wa9 a serious shock to this community, bo unexspected we could hardly believe the report. That she should so soon be taken from among us and this beautiful family be left to morn her loss. t But seeing her life as above, we t 4 would say to her family and friends. ""Why lament the Christian dying? Why indulge in tears or gloom? Camly on the Lord relying, We can greet the opening tomb; What if death with icy fingers, All the fount of life congeals; It's not there thy sister lingers, It's not death her spirit feels; hough for her thy soul is morning, r Though with grief thy heart is riven; While her flesh to dust is turning, All her soul is filled with heaven; Scenes seraphic high and glorious, Now forbids her longer stay; See her o'er death victorious, Angels beckon her away; Hark the golden harps are ringing, ? Sounds unearthly fills her ear; Millions now in heaven singing, Greet her joyful entrance there." Her body was laid to rest at the beautiful1 bnryiog ground at the old home place. We extend our sympathy to our friend. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. K Inabinet. The services held at oak grove today by R9V. B. C. Herlong was a gure success. His able work is highly appreciated in this community. " ? i a j l'here was a very Dao mau uog come to see us last Sunday night. The dog b? longed to the depot ageot | at PelioD, a Mr. Besa. He had been f notified of his dog's behaviour, and was warned of the danger, but he would not heed. ^ The health of our community is very bad at this time. Ploughing is beiDg started now in earnest. We hear that old song in all direction?wc, gee and haw. All at present from Traveler. Catarrh Cannot ho Cured with LOCAL APPLICATIONS, as they cannot reach the seat of the disease. It is pointed out that there is an available cash balance on hand, including deposits in national banks, of nearly $144,000,000, with the daily receipts more than equaling ? rru:_ : j t&6 expenditures. jluib iuj^iuycu condition is due almost entirely to large increases in customs and internal revenue receipts. Representative Chalk Becson of Kansas, the head of a forestry station that gives trees to farmers, in an address to a woman's congress said: 'Trees are like children. In the beginning they give vis a great deal of trouble and worry, and in the end we are very proud of them. Young trees are vexatious; young children are the same. I know of a man who sat in his study one afternoon writing a speech when his son called shrilly from the garden: " 'Papa, papa, look out of the window!' " 'What a nuisance children are!' grumbled the old man, but rapidly he put down his pen and with a half smile advanced to the window promptly and stuck forth his head. " 'Well, John, what is it?' said he. "The boy from a group of youngsters called up, 'Papa, Jimmie Smith did not believe that you had no hair on the top of your head!' "?Baltimore Sun. To make the theorem more intelligible he resorted to the following illustration: "Now, Mr. C.," he proposed, "suppose you were 100 feet from a rabbit and you gave him chase, and in the first minute you gained one-half of the intervening distance and likewise in the next and in each succeeding minute; at last, if you were four inches from the rabbit, would you ever catch hiin? liemember, you gain one-half of the intervening distance each minute." It was at an English election meeting, and an excited man shouted to the candidate: "Don't beat about the bush; answer my question 'Yes' or 'No!' " The candidate replied, "But, my dear sir, there are some questions which cannot be answered 'Yes' or 'No.'" The interrupter replied rudely with the single exclamation "Bosh!" "Very well." replied the speaker, "I will prove what'I say. Now, sir, the question I will put to you is this: 'Have you left off beating your wife?' "?New York Times. The Realist.
