Thousands Have Kidney Trouble and Never Suspect it How *o Find Out. Fill a bottle or common glass with your water and let it stand twenty-four hours; a sediment or settling indicates an unbealthy condition of the kidJf ' \v neys; if it stains your linen it is evidence of kid- j nev trouble; too j frequent desire to pass it or pain ' " in the back is also convincing proof that the kidneys and bladder are out of order. wnai 'jio a?o. C. g i The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, January 31. 1906. Law and Order League. Does the hope of overcoming the spirit of disregard to law in South Carolina depend upon the functions and operations of Liw and Order League*? I should say no, not necessarily. Everyone who has given the matter mature thought has seen that where fit men are put in authority the law may be enforced, and when UDfit men are iu authority law is disregarded. Whatever disregard to law and order that may be pointed cut today will find it safe and proper correction in the putting of the right kind of men in authority. Lexington county has many such men. To get thorn into tho nlonoo t\f nnlhnrit.v ia tie question that should never be loat sight of. If we would go forward in everything that promotes law and order we should seek meD for office who regard the public good as of greater value than their personal or private interest. There has been, there is and there will continue to be men who only seek the uloave3 and fishes" that get intocffice. Judas Iscariat was somewhat like one of these. His conscience- however was not so dead that blood money could not arouse it. When a devout woman with "a pound of ointment of Bpikenaid very costly" expressed her opinion of Christ Judas said, "why ( was not this ointment sold for three ( har.drfd pieces and given to the poor?" John, who was not afraid to index the chiracter of Judas, said, "this he said not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag and bore what j was just therein." This scripture , narrative is full of suggestions and solutions. Abusing power and mis- , using authority for selfish ends was bis trouble. No Law or Order L3a , sue caused him to be disgusted with himself. He had conscience eDough t.i make him loathe himself to death. Our courts and our officers are all that we need to promote law and order. When these are performing ( their duties aright a worthy and appreciative citizenship will bid them God speed. Where this is done there ( is no need of a Law and Order Lea- i gue Where it is not done a Law Eind Order League is at sea. I An officer or court which would refuse to allow the people to express an opinion on a question effecting j the character of the government just because it would cost three or four hundred dollars to do so is an eco* Domist not of the right sort. A Law j and Order League cannot awake such. Elect the best man and there ] will be no need of any other tie than love of home and country to bind our people in one common effort to promote the general good. Planning, scheming acd devisiDg for places, and to obtain "loaves and fishes" for their sake only will not be in favor. Conscience averted by the spirit of right, will assert itself and cause the murderer to quake, the thief to fear and the abuses of authority to repent. Give us the right kind of men for office; give us courts that do justice and you give, us a model , country. If intakes a Lsw and Order League to tjold these in their places, and to their duties, it is cot well. Joab Edwards. How to Avoid Pneumonia. We have never heard of a single instance of a void resulting in pneumonia when Foley's Honey and Tar has been taken. It not only stops the cough but heals and strengthens the lungs. Ask for Foley's Honey and Tar and refuse an\>substitute offered. Dr. C. J. Bishop, of Agnew, Mich., writes: "I have used Foley's Honey and Tar in three very severe cases of pneumonia with good results in every case." TheKaufmann Flm cr Pa A/A w. Savall Devastated. Some men expect to unload their own sins by confessing thoee of others. He who locks his tongue in locks a good deal of trouble out. Some winter is always sect to those who have a great work to do. It is better to go forward slowly than to go round ever so fast. A merry heart kills more microbes than any medicine. Women knows at first sight the character of those with whom they converse. There is much to give them a religious height by which men do not attain. Women see through and through Bach other, and often we most admire her whom they most scorn. Woman is a miracle of divine contradictions. Charity for revenue is a dead loss. There can be no reverence where there is no respect;. Putting pleasure first is a sure way ot postponing it. Sins that make you lose your head have the same effect on the heart. It is easy to imagine that if you have the wind the Lord will find the wings. It is a good thing to remember that your celestial standing does not depend on your terrestrial tailor. Morals to many mean only chance to meddle in other people's affairs.
