That was a noteworthy meeting? that took place the other day, when President Rio3evelt received the representatives of five of the great labor orgaoizitions connected with the operation of the railroads of the : ' country, who claimed that the proposed redaction railroad legislation would result in lessening the earning power of railroads and eventually in * the reduction in the wsges railroad U - employees. In reply, the President said that bis aim was to abolish unsr/. . * i just discrimination rather than to j effect a general lowering of rates. Dan Murphy, who was convicted * of the murder of Treasurer Copes, of | Orangeburg, seme years ago and sentenced to be banged, but bad bis sentence commuted to life imprisonment in the penitentiary and from that institution made bis escape, bas been captured in Swainsboro, Ga. In that place he was - arrested for a horse stealing under the name of Smith, where he was identified as Wnrnhtr T?on 'lioifirtn n^nara hftvo ^ ^UUA ^UJ? AW w MW V been forwarded. ^ 'v '. - - . A funeral without; a parellel in the bi9tcrv of the world, took place iD Philadelphia on November 19*.b, at the Midvale Steel work?,. wb*re n forty ton ingot of steel permeated with the flesh, blood and bones of two workmen, were buried with solemn rites in the Roman Catholic : V cemetery. The German torpedo boat "S 126 " collided with the small cruiser Uadine na the night of November 17cb, near Baclk. in which thirty-one men , and one cfiuer were killed. The disaster occurred during the maneuvers. A strong effort is being made in army circles for the reestablisfcment of the Army Canteen. It" is contended it will reduce desertions from the 8rmy, lesson misdemeanors and improve discipline generally. The Emperor of Germany h9s refused American embalmed beef as food for his array. .Marriages: October 22.1905, in the parsonage at White R)ck, S. C, by R^v. J. Teachers' Beading Circle. At the October meeting of the County Teachers' Association* a number of our teacherB decided to form a Beading Circle and have secured the necessary books. I suggest that, instead of paying a fee of one dollar for a "County Teachers' Librarv," the teachers retain that fee and invest the same in books for their own library. The books for the "Beading Circle" cost only two dollars and fifty cents, and I feel that greater and better results will be accomplished by investing in this way. \ "We hope all the * teachers of the ^ county will arrange to take up this work and the rewards will follow. Come to the Association meeting on November 25 :fc and see what is being done. Very sincerely, .T 1?, TTotcl TTpiror County Sapt. Ed. Fruit Caka. As a rule we don't use or refer to testimonials in addressing the public, but the above remark and similar expressions are made so often in connec tion with Scott's Emulsion that they are worthy of occasional note. From infancy to old age Scott's Emulsion offers a reliable means of remedying improper and weak development, restoring lost flesh and vitality, and repairing waste. The action of Scott's Emulsion is no more of a secret than the composition of the Emulsion itself. What it does it does through nourishment?the kind of nourishment that cannot be obtained in ordinary food. No sj'stem is too weak or delicate to retain Scott's Emulsion and gather good from it. ^ "We will send yoiv a sarapk iraa. ! ^^4 form of .11.vocl i.s oo th . w ra ot i rSC VfeJ-h I'ik of every b-etle of ifmul.io.. y .
