She was a bright and promising young / girl and by her kindly and amiable disposition was a general favorite with her playmates and companions, and of her it can be truthfully said that none knew her but to love her, none named her but to praiBe. Her age was twelve years and three mnntha. She was buried in the town cemetery on Corley street Monday afternoon. % Preliminary Postponed. The preliminary hearing in the case of Mr. Boyer, the merchant of Brookland, who is charged with having set fire to his store and as a consequence nearly the whole town was destroyed, which wa9 to have taken place in this place before v Magistrate Bradford Tuesday, has been postponed by consent of the parties in interest. A negro lawyer from Orangeburg, named Moore was in town Monday at the taking of the testimony in the Congressional contest of Jacobs vs " Lever before Clerk of Court Samuel ~ B. George. Brooks Wingard, J. L. Seaee, C. R. Dorrity and A S. Nunamaker. ? Sad Death. Perhaps one of the saddest deaths that haB occurred in this vicinity in - a long time was that of Miss Ethel For Sale at Herman's. Bazaar. Easter Services. Sunday was an ideal SuDday. There was cot a speck of a cloud to shut out the bright and beautiful . suusbiae acd as a conefquerce near ly everybody attended church to hear the Word of Eternal Life preached. There was an appropriate sermon preached in the Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. 0. N. Rountree, to an appreciative congregation. The message which he delivered to his congregation was the resurrection of a crucified Saviour. At St Stephen Evangelical Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. J. G. Graichen, preached an eloquent sermon on the theme of a risen and glorified Saviour, whose mission for which he came into the world was finished in his death and resurrection. The Easter service by the Sunday school scholars in the evening wa8 an entertainment of unusual merit and interest. The service consisted in solos, duets, songs, dialogues, declamation and addresses and each one did so remarkably well that it was impossible to discriminate between them. The church was beautifully and tastefully decorated with a rich profusion of rare plants, flowers and evergreens. It was indeed a pretty scene, typical of that land where flowers never cease to bloom and where no death ever enters. The address by the Rev. J. W. Neace was replete with good, wholesome advise which tended to elevate the moral tone of the individual and the community. And thus ended another glorious Easter. I Married.
