Water is getting very scarce in our little but busy town. Wells have failed that were never known to tail heretofore. RsV. Mr. Beosel preached several very interesting sermons in the Methodist church last Saturday and Sunday. R W Frick & Son are doing a good business with their g.nnery. They are kept busy from Monday morning till lnte Saturday eve. Mr. M P Lindler, the principal of our High School attended Sunday 8cnooi at St. Peter's church Sunday evening. Our town jg on a boom. There have been several new lots sold during the past week. Misses Bessie and Daisy Long and Miss Trannie Lake visited our townsman, Mr. Jacob, Boland recently. Misses Mabel ar.d Irene Fulmer of the Piney Woods section, have been added to the music department of our High School. The K. P. Lodge met last Friday night in the Wessmger hall and two new members had the pleasure of ?;rfinrr ?K o rrnfth LI g vuc ?vw'* Mr. T. 0- Sfcoudemire is having bis house painted and after it is completed will add much to the appearance of our town. The Chapm High School is moving on nicely. Every week places new scholars on the roll. Miss Kyzer, the assistant, will commence the first: Monday. Mr. 0. P. Robinson is still running j his piaiDers and is doing an extensive lumber business. Oar town has six stores besides the dispensary and all the merchants are doing a thriving business. Roof, Treasurer. We understand from a reliable source tbat the County Fair was a success financially and in every other respect. After all expenses are paid there will be a surplus of about $300 to the credit of the association. This shows the excellent management of the affairs of the Association and we dare say that do other similiar Association in the State, giving as much entertainment and doing so much good for the material progress of the county is in as good a financial condition. ? Peak News. To the Editor of the Dispatch: Some decided improvements have been made during the summer in the appearance of the town. Several dwellings and stores have been repainted. Mr. W. H. Suber now occupies his large two story building and has a complete stock of goods. Mr. Walter Summer has opened a general merchandise store. Trade is good. It is expected that a large number of people from here and the sur-. rounding country will attend the State Fair in Columbia this week.
