I will give my remedj: Pour one tablespoooful of spirits of turpentine across the hog's loins, then take one pint of fresh turpentine and beat as hot as I can be borne without burning, then j spread on a cloth six or eight inches ! , square, place it on the hog's loins, j i then put the hog in a pet; put one teaspoonful of spirits of turpentine in the mouth, then give one teaspoonful twice a day in one quart of corn for two day?; if they don't like to eat it, mix a little corn with it. I will give my preventive for hog cholera: Take one half bushel tf corn, pot it in a pot with potasb, fi 1 with water, then boil; give one quatt twice a day. I do this once a month and my hogs never have cholera. Also give spirits of turpentine in j shelled corn once a montn. To destroy lice on hogs or cattle: j One gallon of black oil, one pound j of sulphur, 5 cents' worth of mercurial ointment. Put it in a tin bucket and mix it thoroughly; take a mop and grease them all over ouce every two months. This remedy will also bring ticks off of cattle or horses.? Conrad Harrell, in Home and Farm. Elias Lawson Amick departed this life April 18. 190-4, at the age of 65 years and 12 dayB. He was a consistent member of Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran church. Once in his life he served as a deacon of bis church, and at the la9t- election of^ officers was chosen for his second term as eider. Oa account cf his ill health, for the last year or two, he could not aitend to the duties of bis sacred office as he felt he should hkvo rtnnp Rnt. wplfurfi nf hi* church was ever on his mind, and often suggested plans and means for successful operation. He was united in marriage to Miss Eady Ann Jane Risb, January 4, | 18G6. This union was blessed with j 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls, two of which preceded him to the spirit world. Mr. Arnick was a Confederate soldier, having voluntered in 1861 in Co, I, 15.h Reg. S. C. Volunteers. While serving bis country in this capacity be was wounded at the battle of Fredricksburg, Va , and also at the battle of Bean Statior, Todd. The funeral services were conducted in Macedonia church by bis pastor, Rev. J. K. Efird, assisted by Rsv. B. D. Wessinger, and the body buried in the church cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
