For candy of all kinds, always go to the Bazaar. Several communications crowded out on account of space. A very hard rain fell hereabouts last Saturday afternoon. The tax books will open for the collection of taxes next Wednesday. All lovers are invited to come to the County Fair and do their "sparking. Bemember us with the amount of your subscription when you sell your cotton. \ The Board of Control was in session last Monday and transacted routine business. Preparations have begun at the fair, grounds for the opening of the County Fair. The chain gang is on the State road and will remain for awhile when it will go in the Fork. The trains of the Southern going North and South were running away behind time yesterday. Monday was salesday, bnt no official sales were made. The day passed off without incident. Bring your wife and family to the Fair. If you have none, get one immediately and come along. A party from the Fork joined a party from the South side at this place yesterday morning and they are cow camped on the banks of the ?disto enjoying delicious fish fries. Miss Ida Reeder is teaching school at Cope, Orangeburg county. Miss Ida taught this school last session and gave such universal satisfaction that her services have been secured for the present term. But just outside of the limits of the town a small house occupied by Mr. Peavy and family, consisting of wife and child, was blown down. After the storm the inmates were enabled to crawl out uninjured. The weather is getting cool and you must call on H. L. Oswald and supply your wants in the dry goods line. He carries a full stock of these goods and is offering them very low. Death cast its shadow over the home of Mr. Bial North, at Brookland. on last Saturdav. and the shadowy angel gathered1 into the store house of eternity, John Long North, his eight-months old grand son. The interment was in the Cayce burying ground, Rev. Mr. Speer of the Methodist church officiating. The bereaved parents have our warmest sympathy. . ?- .? Raise Mors Stock. Xf the farmers of South Carolina raised hogs and cattle in sufficient numbers to provide their own meat and some for sale they would be rejoicing over the high prices of meat and not bemoaning the poor farmers' hard fate and abusing the meat trust. There is do immediate prospect of lower prices in the meat market and the wise farmer, who has pasture land or can convert a part of his farm into good pasture by planting rye or other grains and grasses for winter grazing and Bermuda for summer pasture, will bis attention more toward stock raising than he has in the past. > A line of fancy candies, consisting of chocolates, creams, caromels, bon bons, etc., in quarter, half and pound fancy boxes.
